My BFF’s “Gift” for My Daughter? She’s Pregnant With MY Husband’s Baby! Chapter 02

My BFF’s “Gift” for My Daughter? She’s Pregnant With MY Husband’s Baby! Chapter 02

She made a whole show of grabbing her stuff. Snatched the bra and pajamas she’d “left behind” off the bathroom counter.

Then walked out.

“Claire—wait!”

Grayson moved to follow her. Annie’s scream stopped him cold.

His buddies didn’t wait. The second Claire was gone, they turned on me.

“What the hell’s wrong with you? Claire came here for your kid’s birthday and you chased her out?”

“Classic move. You really think Grayson would’ve married you if Claire wanted him? You sold flowers on the damn street.”

“Grayson—we don’t care if Claire’s cool with this. We’re not. You two don’t go say sorry? We’re done here.”

Ten minutes. That’s all it took.

Empty house. Broken glass. Trampled flowers. Annie crying in my arms.

Grayson kicked the orchid pot. It shattered.

“This what you wanted?”

I didn’t say anything.

Just looked at the mess on the floor.

I was seventeen when I met him.

Grayson stood in the rain with me. Pushed my flower cart. Yelled at people to buy roses.

Called his friends. Used his own money. Bought everything I had.

Helped me pay my mom’s hospital bills.

We dated. Got married. Had Annie.

He said he’d never let me stand in the rain again. Never let me struggle.

He’d stay.

Then Claire came back from Paris.

Profile picture changed. No more matching outfits.

The guy who was scared of roller coasters started skydiving. Bungee jumping. Racing cars.

Everything she liked.

Bit by bit, he became someone else.

And somehow he thought I wouldn’t notice.

Grayson grabbed my hand. His was warm. Mine felt numb.

“I’m sorry, Nat. Shouldn’t have yelled. Not today.”

His voice went soft.

“Look—Claire and I are just friends. That’s it. The divorce papers were stupid. A joke. I never wanted to leave you or Annie.”

He squeezed.

“I’ll stop seeing her so much. I promise.”

He looked like he meant it.

Three days ago? I would’ve said yes.

For Annie’s sake.

But I kept seeing it. That first fight with Claire.

She ghosted him for a week.

He logged into my Facebook. Posted a public apology in the group chat.

Begged her to come back.

She did.

I became the joke.

Then there was the night Annie’s heart gave out.

Grayson was at Disneyland. With Claire.

I was screaming at the ER nurse. Called him thirty-seven times.

Nothing.

I pulled my hand away.

“No. I want the divorce.”

His face changed fast. Shock. Panic. Anger.

“Are you out of your mind? You’re really gonna destroy this family?”

“I didn’t destroy it. You did.”

The door flew open.

One of his guys stumbled in.

“Sir—Claire’s been in a car accident!”
