My Bestie Used My Photo to Catfish a Man—She Never Knew He Was My Boss Chapter 07

After Adrian left, Lauren completely lost it. Her face twisted with rage and bitterness. She grabbed my arm in the hallway, uncaring about the passing waitstaff, her nails digging in.

Her voice went shrill, nothing like her usual sweet tone. “Iris, what have I ever done to you?”

I winced and tried to pull away, but her grip only tightened. “If you’re going to take what’s mine, ask yourself if you deserve it! I treated you like my best friend, and this is how you betray me?”

Her expression was unrecognizable. The room started spinning.

A crowd gathered around us. Guests from the private room, waiters-all whispering. Some were already filming.

“What’s going on?”

“That girl stole the hot one’s boyfriend or something.”

“Busted.”

People always sided with the pretty one, and the mob turned against me instantly.

Lauren caught on and switched to her innocent act. “Iris, I got emotional earlier. I don’t want to hurt you. But you’ve broken my heart. As your best friend, I’m just looking out for you.”

She sniffled, shoulders trembling. “A guy like Adrian-he’ll toss you aside like nothing. When he said he liked you, it was just for fun.”

“Think about it. A guy like that has beautiful women around him constantly. Why would he ever pick you? I know you’re upset with me, but I’m just trying to keep you from getting hurt.”

Judgmental stares flew at me from every direction. She was counting on me slinking away like a defeated dog. On her words making me push Adrian away.

But at this point, I couldn’t take it anymore. I steadied myself and looked her dead in the eye.

“Lauren, I never tried to steal any man from you. I backed down for you. I let you walk all over me–because you mattered more than anyone. But that doesn’t give you the right to keep treating me like garbage!”

I took a breath and kept going. “I never cared that much about Adrian liking me. What I cared about was how you treated me.”

I pulled out my phone and opened our chat history. I scrolled to the day she asked to use my photos for Adrian, I held it up to her face.

“Don’t make me read these out loud one by one. Forget Adrian-if Leo ever finds out about this, what do you think he’ll do?”
