My Alpha Chose My Sister, So I Chose Someone Else Chapter 10
The results came back fast.
Vivienne’s video was fabricated, and my audio was genuine.
No matter how skilled the forger she hired, the academy’s analysis could not be fooled.
Vivienne still refused to give up and kept pleading through her tears.
“Ashlyn’s audio is the fake one! Pavel only lied for her because she seduced him. What does one conversation prove? I…”
Before she could finish, Pavel-cut her off.
“I admit it. I did it.
“A supermarket near the academy has security footage of Vivienne deliberately setting that dog on Ashlyn, and I ordered the employees to keep quiet about it.
“I’m willing to submit the footage as supporting evidence.”
Vivienne stared at him, stunned. She had not expected him to turn against her at the one moment that mattered.
Maybe only then did Vivienne truly understand that Pavel had never loved her.
With the evidence conclusive, the ruling came quickly.
Vivienne was barred for life from becoming a healer.
Pavel was banned from the Council of Elders for three years.
When the ruling was read out, the look Vivienne gave me was pure hatred.
“You destroyed me! Are you satisfied?”
I shook my head.
“Not yet.”
I looked up at the Elders.
“I want to report Vivienne for animal cruelty. Every pack has explicit laws against torturing or killing an animal that has never awakened.
“Vivienne and Pavel killed my pet Annie at the pet store, and I have witnesses. I ask the Council to rule according to the law!”
The pet store employees all came forward to testify for me.
The Council sentenced Vivienne to life imprisonment and ordered Pavel, who had knowingly broken the law, to step down as Alpha.
I knew then that I had won.
The Moon Goddess permits the packs to fight one another, but she does not permit wolves to hold life in contempt.
The Council had always followed the word of the Moon Goddess. It would never let those two walk away.
Vivienne glared at me, wild-eyed.
“Ashlyn, you’re insane! I’ll have our father throw you out of the pack!
“Without the Moonsong pack behind you, do you really think your mate will stay with you!”
I gave a small smile.
“You don’t need to concern yourself with Caleb and me. As for our father, he’s already here.”
I parted the crowd and made my way to where my father stood in the corner.
“Father, are you sure you want to banish me from the pack for a daughter whose future is already over?”
He did not answer.
Vivienne’s tears poured down.
“Father, are you abandoning me? Aren’t I the one you love most? Help me. Throw her out!”
He turned his back and closed his eyes.
That broke her.
Silence was the clearest answer there was.
In the end, Vivienne never understood our father well enough.
My father did love Vivienne, but one daughter counted for nothing beside the growth of the pack.
I was the only daughter left who was useful to him, and he was never going to offend me for her sake.
Once my healer certification was restored, I submitted the formula for producing the serum.
It cleared review quickly, and the serum was headed for full-scale production.
All the wolves who had lost their minds would receive treatment and return to normal lives.
As I was leaving the Healers’ Academy, Pavel called after me.
“Ashlyn, have you… have you fallen in love with Caleb?”
I stopped walking, but I did not turn around.
Thinking of how thoughtful Caleb was, I couldn’t keep the corner of my mouth from lifting.
“Maybe.”
Pavel asked again.
“I’ve paid for my mistakes. Is there any chance left for us?”
I answered calmly.
“No. With Caleb or without him, I’m never going to love you again.”
His voice was full of grief.
“Ashlyn, I’m sorry. I didn’t treasure you when I had you, and I deserve every bit of this.
“You look so much more alive now than you ever did with me. I’m happy for you.”
The words came harder for him then.
“And… I wish you well.”
I did not look back, and I did not answer.
A belated apology couldn’t erase the pain he had caused me.
But I had already found someone who could heal it.
Caleb was waiting for me by the car.
I walked faster and went straight into his arms.
Every day ahead of us would be a happy one.
