Mission Fail: Kill Me Now Chapter 01

Author: No Coriander
On a luxurious cruise ship, Lucas Lindt kissed his new bride, Hannah Snow, looking so in love. Cheers and blessings filled the air, but in my mind, a discordant voice from the System rang out.

System: [Host mission failed. In half a month, you will be forcibly erased.]

I watched Lucas, completely lost in the kiss, and a bitter smile tugged at my lips.

In my original world, I had been terminally ill. After being transmigrated into this one, the System identified four targets for me to pursue. As long as one of them reached one-hundred percent affection for me, I would regain my health.

Over the years, I lowered myself again and again, doing everything I could to win them over. However, every single time their affection level was about to max out, it would always reset to zero because of Hannah, and now, my last target was about to marry her.

With that thought, I walked toward the edge of the deck and then leapt straight into the sea. The freezing water wrapped around my body as I sank deeper and deeper. The suffocating pressure blurred my consciousness.

Just then, a figure grabbed hold of me and dragged me back toward the surface. Fresh air rushed into my lungs, but before I could even react, a hard slap landed across my face, sharp and painful.

“You chose Hannah’s wedding to jump into the sea? Are you trying to make all of us hate you?”

I wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth and looked at the man in front of me. The disgust in his eyes made my chest ache.

Casey Jones, my brother, was the first target I was ever assigned in this world. After our parents in this body passed away, it had been just the two of us, relying on each other.

Back when the car accident happened, I didn’t hesitate to throw myself over him and shield him, which ended in me lying in the ICU with ruptured organs. He had held me and cried, promising that no matter what happened, he would always protect me. He said we were the only family each other had in this world.

Yet, on the day I was discharged from the hospital, I saw him bring Hannah home and tell me she would be our new little sister. He gave her my room. He took all the valuable jewelry our parents had left me and handed it to her. He even allowed her to kill the dog I had raised for eight years. Every argument between Hannah and me also ended in me losing because Casey always favored her without question. At the same time, he accused me, his own sister, of being petty and narrow-minded.

In just one week, Hannah had stolen ninety-seven percent of the affection I had spent eight years accumulating. From that day on, Casey’s affection toward me kept dropping, and to the outside world, he never acknowledged me as his sister again.

Seeing me sit there in silence, Casey snickered and tossed a bottle of heart medication in front of me.

“Still pretending you have heart problems? You really haven’t changed at all. Take your meds and get lost.”

The truth was, I didn’t have a heart condition. The pain in my chest came from the System’s punishment. However, Casey had been afraid something would happen to me back then, so he always kept medicine on him. Yet now, I felt nothing.

I grabbed the bottle, poured out more than half of the white pills, and stuffed them straight into my mouth. His eyes widened, and with a dark expression, he forcefully knocked my hand aside. The pills spilled out of my mouth as he grabbed my wrist tightly, his voice trembling slightly.

“Chloe, have you lost your mind?”

I hadn’t. I just wanted to go home and see my real brother one last time.

I stayed silent and didn’t move again. After a moment, Casey quietly let out a breath of relief and then shot me a vicious glare.
