Lost Princess of the Original Bloodline Returns Chapter 05

Lost Princess of the Original Bloodline Returns Chapter 05

The first ray of morning sun pierced the mist. It hit my shoulder without mercy.

A burning agony struck me instantly.

I bit my lip. Hard. I refused to scream.

Instead, the agony shattered my bloodline seal. The seal I hid for ten long years.

For a decade, I had drained my Original heart-blood to heal the fatal silver wound on Luca’s chest.

My magic was exhausted. I thought I would burn to ash in the sun. Just like a common vampire.

But right now, my body was burning hot.

Ancient, wild magic surged through my veins.

The pureblood body of the Nightshade family fully awakened at the edge of death.

A golden light shimmered across my skin.

The sun stopped burning me. It fed my dry magic.

I was no longer that fragile stand-in. I didn’t need his blood to survive anymore.

The ground ahead suddenly began to shake.

A massive shadow portal opened in the dawn mist.

A dozen obsidian cars pulled up and lined up right in front of me. They were carved with ancient defense runes.

A car door slammed open.

My brother, Gabriel, strode toward me.

His pureblood aura was suffocating.

The air around us hummed with his raw power.

He looked at my thin robe. He looked at my bare, muddy feet. Dark flames of absolute fury ignited in his deep eyes.

“Those Thorne bastards,” he cursed through gritted teeth.

He ripped off his heavy velvet cloak. It was sun-proof and fire-proof. He wrapped me up tight without a second thought, then pulled me fiercely into his arms.

The familiar scent of my family surrounded me.

It was the safety I had craved for ten long years.

I buried my face in his broad chest. Ten years of suffering and unfairness finally broke loose.

Tears of relief spilled from my eyes.

“Brother. Take me home,” I choked out.

“We are going home right now. No one will ever hurt you again.” He held me tight and carried me into the largest

car.

The door slammed shut. It blocked out the rotten smell of the Thorne castle forever.

The engines roared. We sped toward the border of Onyx City.

Luca’s POV

I leaned against the heavy doors. I gripped the sun-proof cloak I was supposed to give her.

I turned and walked to the huge stained-glass window. I stared hard into the thick morning mist outside.

How dare she test my limits like this. She thought this would make me cave.

I bet she wouldn’t last five seconds.

The moment the sun touched her weak skin-skin that needed my blood to survive-she would scream in pure

agony.

She would come back and beg me to open the door. Beg me to take her back under my wing.

All I had to do was stand here. Wait for her to break. Wait for her to realize how much she needed me. Then I would walk out and wrap her shivering body in this cloak. Just like I did ten years ago. When I saved her from the hunters.

One minute passed.

Five minutes passed.

Outside, it was dead silent.

I angrily yanked at my collar. My heart skipped a beat for no reason.

I marched back into the main hall and dropped heavily onto my throne.

My eyes were glued to the grand grandfather clock by the wall.

Tick. Tock.

The hands slowly, mercilessly crossed seven o’clock.

It had been three hours since I threw Elara into the morning sun.

Three hours.

Even the strongest high-vampire would turn to dust without a talisman or a cloak.

Let alone her. She had completely lost my blood supply.

A sickening smell of cheap rose perfume drifted over and broke my thoughts.

Mia swayed toward me. She held a warm cup of synthetic blood. She wore a fake look of concern.

“Luca, stop worrying about that crazy woman.” Her sweet, whiny voice made my skin crawl. “She’s just using cheap tricks to get your attention. Drink something. You need to relax.”

She bent down. She tried to press the bloody-smelling cup to my lips.

A nameless rage exploded in my chest.

I swiped my right arm hard. Crash. The crystal cup smashed against the cold marble floor.

Dark red synthetic blood splattered everywhere. It ruined Mia’s white lace dress.

Mia screamed. She stumbled back a few steps, looking at me in terror.

I didn’t have time for her tears.

My stomach was churning wildly.

A terrifying panic started to grip my throat.

The hall was suffocatingly quiet.

No weak knocking. No careful, pleasing voice from Elara.

She absolutely could not leave my protection. She was a useless thing who would die in pain without my blood.

She couldn’t have gone far. She must be terrified out of her mind.

She was definitely hiding in some dark corner under the front steps. Shivering. Waiting for me to carry her back.

Yes. She only had me. She must still be there.

Panic ate away my last bit of sanity.

I leaped up from the throne. I turned and roared at the trembling blood servants in the corner:

“Go! Open the gates! Go find out where that woman is!”
