Life Swapped, Sister’s Downfall Chapter 07
After Axel’s smooth talk, combined with his perfectly polished appearance, a few girls were successfully deceived.
I smirked, thinking, ‘What a joke-those “fake marriage” partners are just some shady old men from the underworld!’
I glanced at Emma, noticing the satne skeptical expression on her face.
‘Hah-rarely do we sisters see eye to eye on anything.’
As the girls, full of hope for the future, prepared to follow Axel, I immediately stopped them.
“Don’t go! It’s a trap! You think you’ll live a life of luxury there? You’re just selling your bodies!”
Axel’s face darkened. He gripped my arm hard, his voice icy. “Do you have a grudge against me? They can leave, but I’ve set my sights on you! Come with me!”
I struggled with all my strength, silently counting how long it would take the police to arrive.
“Police! Don’t move!”
Just as I feared I’d have to act alone, the police finally arrived.
Axel didn’t seem afraid. “I’m from Zandumore. Pehlo’s laws can’t touch me,” he sneered.
A young officer stepped forward, voice booming. “This is Pehlo soil! We will not allow anyone to break the law, even if they are aliens!”
Axel was quickly restrained, and the small camera I had brought clearly recorded the entire scene.
Catherine, still shaking from the ordeal, said, “Harper, thank goodness you called the police first. Otherwise… I might have actually believed it. How could I have been so stupid? There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”
I comforted her. “You were just desperate to help your family, that’s all. Here, our dorm friends pooled a little money. Take it for now.”
Catherine cried, overwhelmed with gratitude. The young officer who had come to our aid approached me with a smile. “You’re brave for your age. I’ve been here twice because of you.”
Then he extended his hand. “I’m Jason Kirk. It’s a pleasure to meet you.
I was speechless.
After conducting an investigation, the police confirmed that Axel was suspected of illegal human trafficking. Because of his foreign nationality, the case was handed over to a specialized agency.
Emma had apparently sensed trouble and slipped away during the chaos. Her whereabouts remained unknown.
With the immediate danger over, I returned to campus and resumed a peaceful life.
Because of my excellent grades, my teachers hoped I would stay for graduate studies, but after careful consideration, I chose to start my own business.
Al products were still immature, but I knew it would soon become a huge selling point. I refused to miss the opportunity and decided to fight for it.
The road to entrepreneurship was grueling. Most days I hit one failure after another, yet I still put on a professional smile each morning and faced the day.
After a year, I went from obscurity to modest success.
My only worry was Emma. She was still missing, like a ticking bomb ready to explode at any moment.
Sure enough, she eventually did.
“If you don’t come with me today, I’ll deal with Mom first, then I’ll come for you,” she said over the phone, her words like a demon’s whisper in my ear.
“Why? She’s your mother! She loved you the most. How could you hurt her?”
“Don’t act like a saint!” Emma shouted, her voice cracking. “If you hadn’t framed me, I would’ve made big money! This is all your fault! You must come! Or I’ll kill Mom and make sure you regret it for the rest of your life!” Emma chose the meeting place carefully-the same spot where I had died in my previous life. Only this time, there was no villa. It was just an undeveloped plot of land.
