Kneel, Darling, Your Trophy Wife Is Gone Chapter 08

Kneel, Darling, Your Trophy Wife Is Gone Chapter 08

“Who’s there?!”

Ethan reacted instantly, grabbing his suit jacket and throwing it over Hazel’s naked body. His brows tightened

the second his eyes landed on me.

“Nora?”

I couldn’t think about anything else anymore.

My whole body was shaking, and when I spoke, the words barely came out.

“Ethan… they tried to…” My voice broke violently. “I want to leave. Have your men take me home.”

Ethan’s expression darkened immediately, like he was about to come over and pick me up himself.

But in the next second, Hazel wrapped herself tightly around his arm.

She leaned against him with the faintest smile tugging at her lips, though her voice sounded perfectly

wounded.

“Nora, if you’re gonna lie, at least make it believable.”

“I already told them who you were. Why would they touch you?”

Then she turned toward Ethan, softening instantly.

“Ethan… does she hate me that much? Is that why she’s making this up on purpose?”

My chest tightened violently.

I looked at Ethan immediately.

“I’m not lying!” I said urgently. “Ethan, check the security footage!”

But before he could answer, the men from outside had already caught up.

The moment they saw Ethan, every single one of them changed their story without hesitation.

“Don Moretti, we really didn’t do anything.”

“She asked us to pour her drinks, so we did. Then she suddenly smashed a bottle over his head like she lost

her mind. We only splashed a little alcohol on her.”

One of the men still had blood running down his temple.

Which somehow made them look even more convincing.

Ethan lowered his eyes toward me, his expression unreadable.

One hand rested lightly against my back.

Then he gave me a small push forward.

“Nora,” he said softly, “it was only some alcohol.”

“It’s nothing.”

His voice stayed calm. Almost patient.

“And maybe after this, you’ll finally learn how to behave.”

My mind went completely blank.

Like something inside me had snapped for good.

I stared at the men approaching me again, my entire body turning cold as my fingers clamped desperately

around the doorframe.

“Ethan, I’m telling the truth.”

My voice shook uncontrollably.

“Please… don’t let them take me.”

Ethan looked down at my hand gripping the frame.

Then, with terrifying patience, he peeled my fingers away one by one. Calm. Steady. Completely unmoved.

“Be good, Nora,” he murmured quietly. “It’s only an hour. I’ll come get you afterward.”

Bang.

The door slammed shut directly in front of me.

And in that instant, it truly felt like I’d been thrown straight into hell.

The men closed in around me laughing. Their hands crawled across my skin like snakes. My stomach

churned violently.

If they really dragged me away-

I would rather die.

I grabbed the decorative metal stand beside me and smashed it toward them with all my strength.

The second they stumbled backward, I ran.

As fast as I could.

At the end of the hallway was an open terrace., and beyond it, the street far below.

But I never stopped.

I jumped.

The moment my body crashed onto the roof of a parked car, the entire world went black.

Pain swallowed me whole like a tidal wave.

I lay there in blood, breathing in broken, uneven gasps while the voices around me faded further and further

away.

And somewhere inside the darkness, I suddenly remembered the day Ethan proposed to me.

If I could go back to that moment, I would never say yes again.

When I woke up, I was back in the hospital.

Every inch of my body felt like it had been shattered and rebuilt incorrectly. There were ten stitches in my leg. Even breathing hurt.

Ethan stood beside the bed, his face colder than ice.

“Nora.”

His voice was terrifyingly calm.

“I only asked you to drink with Hazel’s friends for a while, and you turned it into jumping off a building?”

He stared at me sharply.

“Do you have any idea how badly you scared them?”

“Look at yourself now. Is there a single thing left about you that resembles a Moretti Donna?”

I stared blankly at the ceiling for a very long time before finally speaking.

“Whatever you say.”

There was no point explaining anymore. No point at all.

Something darkened further in Ethan’s eyes. Like frustration and pressure were choking him from the inside,

mixed with a trace of panic even he hadn’t realized was there.

He stared at me for several seconds.

Then finally spoke.

“You’ve really disappointed me, Nora.”

“Stay in the hospital and think about what you’ve done.”

“When you finally come to your senses, I’ll pick you up.”

After saying that, he turned and walked out. The door slammed shut hard behind him.

But this time, I didn’t care anymore.

I simply lay there watching his figure disappear, my heart strangely calm.

No.

I wasn’t going to reflect anymore.

Because I was leaving him very soon.

Right then, my phone vibrated.

A message from Damien appeared on the screen.

[The jet’s ready. Car’s downstairs. You ready to go?]

I stared at those words for several seconds.

Then slowly, the pressure crushing my chest for the past six years finally loosened a little.

I replied: [Yes. I’m coming down now.]

I forced myself upright and slowly climbed out of bed, every movement sending sharp pain through my body.

But I never stopped.

Downstairs, the car was already waiting.

When Damien saw the bandages wrapped around my body, his eyes paused briefly.

He didn’t ask questions.

He simply stepped forward, steadied me carefully, and helped me into the car before handing over a folder.

Inside were the plane tickets, the finalized divorce decree, and every completed document we needed.

“What else do you need me to do?” he asked quietly.

I turned to look one last time at the distant Moretti estate.

Then I said softly, “Mail the divorce papers to him.”

“And take me to the airport.”

Damien let out a low chuckle.

“Done.”

The car door closed behind me, and the engine started smoothly beneath the silence between us.

Once the plane took off, I pulled the SIM card from my phone, snapped it in half, and tossed it into the trash.

Then I looked out the window at the city growing smaller and smaller beneath the clouds.

Goodbye, Ethan.
