I Traveled into the Future and Became the Alpha’s Luna Chapter 09
Caleb’s eyes found me in an instant. When he saw
I was mostly okay, he relaxed a little.
Then he slammed Julian against the wall.
And punched him.
Julian didn’t even try to dodge.
Margaret screamed and tried to pull Caleb off.
“Leave my son alone! You-”
“Get off!”
Caleb didn’t hit women.
But this time, he kicked Margaret in the gut.
She flew two meters and hit a shelf, crying and
unable to get up.
I didn’t know how many times Caleb hit Julian. His
face was covered in blood.
He never fought back.
He just lay on the ground like a dead dog.
When we left, Julian looked up and watched Caleb.
carefully carry me out.
His face was a mess of blood.
I couldn’t read his expression.
I just saw his eyes crinkle.
He looked the same way he did that day when I
told him we were over and he said, slow and soft, “Treating me like a dog, honey?”
That pup in my belly didn’t make it.
Margaret had given me too much hypnotic herb
over time.
The pup wasn’t growing right.
We had to end it.
It was awful.
I cried so hard that day.
Caleb stayed with me the whole time.
He said it was okay. We’d have our own pup
someday.
But even someone as strong as him got red–eyed.
That night.
I dreamed about a little girl.
A chubby little dumpling.
She climbed into my lap and wiped my tears.
She said, “Mama, wait for me. I’ll come back
soon.”
“Mama, don’t cry.”
“Wait for me.”
“Keep going, you two!”
Tonight.
Was me and Caleb’s real first night together.
I mean, all the married memories belonged to
future Elena.
Present–day me from five years ago didn’t
remember any of it.
Before, me and Caleb had been stuck between so
many misunderstandings, fights, and walls.
Then.
I’d spent a long time recovering.
And then Caleb made me rest for two more
months.
And now, finally, we were here.
After dinner, we both ended up in the bedroom
without saying a word.
Caleb sat on the edge of the bed.
“Come here.”
I went to him, and he pulled me onto his lap.
His breath was hot against my ear. “You go shower first?”
“No.”
“Me first?”
“No.”
Caleb paused, then laughed. “Together?”
I buried my face in his shoulder. “Yeah.”
“Yeah?”
He asked, teasing. “Didn’t hear you. You not eat
enough?”
My face was burning. Finally, I just gave up and collapsed against him. “Nope. Still hungry.”
“Guess it’s up to you to fill me up.”
Caleb laughed.
His hands went to my waist, and he lifted me up. It was embarrassing as hell.
He used to do a lot of hard labor, so his palms were rough with calluses. When his hands slid under my shirt, his calluses rubbed against my waist, equal parts painful and ticklish.
I couldn’t help curling into him.
We made it to the shower.
The water ran, and ran, and ran.
Caleb’s hand cradled the back of my head.
He leaned down and kissed me.
He pried my lips apart, fierce and demanding,
taking all my air.
I melted against him.
I had nowhere to hold on but his neck.
“Elena.”
“Yeah?”
I tried to catch my breath.
And then I heard him say.
“That night, when you followed me to my room
with your pillow, this is what I wanted.”
“Wanted what?”
But Caleb wouldn’t say.
He just showed me instead.
Slow, deep, insistent.
Making up for all the lost time, in the most
intimate way possible.
