Chloe’s father burned through the twenty million and came back for more, this time with her sister
in tow.
He didn’t bother with Oliver. He went straight to the front entrance of Sterling Enterprise.
“Arthur! Get out here! You knocked up my daughter and think twenty million makes it go away? Not
a chance!”
His voice carried across the block. A crowd was already forming.
Security tried to drag him off. He shoved back, making a massive scene. “Get your hands off me! I’m calling the cops! I’m suing this whole damn company!”
Chloe’s sister had her phone out, livestreaming the whole thing, tears streaming on cue. “Please, everyone, the CEO of Sterling Enterprise got my sister pregnant. She’s six months along, and he won’t pay a dime in child support. We’re begging you. Help us get justice!”
The viewer count skyrocketed. The comments flooded in.
Arthur watched the stream from his office. He called Oliver before he could calm down. “The old man burned through the money, and now he’s making a scene outside my building. Get over here and deal with this. Now.”
Oliver was at a bridal boutique with Emma Bennett, watching her try on wedding dresses. His face went dark the second he picked up.
He stepped out of earshot and kept his voice low. “Arthur, that’s your woman and your child. I’ve bailed you out enough times. I promised Emma I’d stop covering for you. Handle it yourself.”
Arthur’s voice went cold. “Oliver. When your dad’s company went under, who wrote the check that saved it?”
The line was quiet for a long time.
Oliver’s voice came back flat. “Fine. One last time.’

Oliver’s face was stone. He shoved the old man off and turned to the nearest camera. “He’s right.
I’m going to set the record straight. The baby is not mine.”
The crowd erupted.
Oliver stared straight into the lens. “I’ve never dated Chloe. Never touched her. She’s Arthur’s. The
baby is Arthur’s. I lied before because Arthur begged me to take the fall for him.”
The livestream exploded.

Oliver turned to leave. He made it two steps before turning back, looking straight into the camera one last time.
“Oh, and my fiancée will confirm every word. I’ve never had any relationship with Chloe. As for proof? There’s video from the day of the wedding: Arthur and Chloe, caught in the bride’s dressing room. It’ll be online any minute now.”
He walked away. Didn’t look back.
