I Stayed Widowed for 30 Years, Only for My Dead Husband to Resurrect with My Bestie Chapter 05
Chloe barely made it out of the airport before the reporters swarmed her.
Camera flashes exploded around her from every direction.
“Miss Thorne, what’s your relationship with Arthur, CEO of Sterling Enterprise?”
“We’ve received a tip that you’re carrying Arthur’s child. Can you confirm?”
“Arthur married Audrey Vance just last month. Are you the other woman?”
Chloe went pale. Both hands flew to her stomach, shielding it from the cameras. “You’ve… you’ve got it wrong. I’m not. I’m not the other woman…”
The comments went berserk.
[HOLY CRAP the villainess did NOT hold back]
[The villainess tipped off the press right?? This woman is TERRIFYING]
[I mean Chloe IS the other woman tho what’s there to defend]
[The ML is SO cooked this time the company stock is gonna tank]
Chloe’s eyes darted through the crowd, searching for someone.
Instead, she found her father, the gambler, and her sister, the gold digger. Her face crumpled.
Her sister’s eyes locked on Chloe’s designer clothes. Before Chloe could react, the woman was already tearing at them: yanking her designer jacket, ripping her silk blouse open, leaving her standing there exposed and shivering.
Her father turned to the reporters with a predator’s grin and raised his voice.
“This is my daughter! She’s out here sleeping with rich men, living in mansions, and she won’t give her own father a dime. Won’t give her sister a dime. We’re out on the street while she’s playing house as some rich man’s mistress. You tell me, what kind of person does that?”
The crowd went still. Phones came out. Everyone was filming.
“Pretty girl like that, and she’s a homewrecker? Disgusting.”
“Trash. Absolute trash.”
Chloe was shaking. Her face burned with humiliation. She grabbed her father’s sleeve, voice
dropping to a whisper.
“Dad, please. Stop. Not here. We can talk about this at home.”

Her father backhanded her.
“Oh, NOW you want to talk? Where was that energy when you were living the high life? Did you think about your old man then? About your sister?”
Her head snapped to the side. Blood gathered at the corner of her mouth. She clenched her jaw and prayed, prayed for Arthur, the man she treated like a god, to come save her and pull her out of this
nightmare.
But Arthur didn’t come. Her father’s next blow did.
“Ungrateful little bitch. I raised you, and the second you hit it big you forgot all about me?”
Her sister snapped. She went straight for Chloe’s face, nails out.
“You think you’re so much better than us just because you spread your legs for a billionaire?”
“Let’s see him want you without that pretty little face!”
She clawed at Chloe again, nails raking both cheeks. Red lines split open, blood beading along them.
Chloe screamed, one arm cradling her stomach as she stumbled backward. Her father grabbed a fistful of her hair and yanked her back.
“Where do you think you’re going? Pay up right now, or I’ll give these tabloids an exclusive they’ll never forget!”
The reporters’ shutters were going nonstop.
The comments were flying.
[The sister went WAY too far omg her face is all torn up]
[Chloe had this coming tbh should’ve thought about this before being a homewrecker]
[Her dad is even worse tho like no matter what she did you don’t beat your kid in public]
[Oh shut up with the sympathy a homewrecker gets what a homewrecker deserves PERIOD]
Then a commotion broke out at the edge of the crowd.
“Out of the way! Move!”
Arthur shoved through the crowd. One look at Chloe, standing there half-exposed, face streaked with blood, and something in him broke.
He shoved Chloe’s father aside with one arm, pulled off his coat, and wrapped it around her.
“What the hell is wrong with you? She’s pregnant! You could’ve killed her!”
Chloe’s father stumbled, caught himself, and the wheels behind his eyes started turning. He lunged forward and grabbed a fistful of Arthur’s shirt.
“Arthur! Finally! You knocked up my daughter. You don’t get to just walk away from that! I’m not asking for much. Eight, maybe ten million? That’s nothing to you. Pay up, and we’re square.”
