I Stayed Widowed for 30 Years, Only for My Dead Husband to Resurrect with My Bestie Chapter 01
Arthur Sterling was sleeping with my best friend. I found out on our wedding day and called the whole thing off.
He threw himself into traffic. Spent two weeks in the ICU.
The day he got out, he sent Chloe Thorne across the country and swore he’d never see her again.
After that, Arthur became the perfect husband. Everyone said so.
The day I found out I was pregnant, Arthur was diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer.
I nursed him through it while I was still pregnant. Then I fell down the stairs and lost the baby. The doctors said I’d never be able to carry a child again.
A month later, Arthur died.
I spent thirty years mourning that man. And as I lay on my deathbed, Arthur stepped into my room.
Chloe was with him. So was a boy, their son. Arthur looked down at me and smiled.
“You stupid, stupid woman. I sent Chloe away because she was pregnant with my kid. Every business trip? I was with her. With our son.”
“Our marriage was never real. Chloe’s been my wife the whole time.”
His laughter was the last sound I heard before the tears came.
That night, as the darkness closed in, a silent question echoed in my fading mind: If you had one last wish, what would it be?
I heard myself whisper, “I want to do it over. This time, I want to live for myself.”
…
The words had barely left my mouth when it all came flooding back, all those years with Arthur, every moment, rushing through me at once.
When I opened my eyes, I was back. Standing right where it started, on the day I caught Arthur cheating.
That’s when I saw them, live comments scrolling across my vision like subtitles I’d never asked for.
[OMG the iconic scene!! The ML and FL are hooking up while the villainess is out there looking for them like a total idiot lmao]
[Wait isn’t this the ML’s wedding day?? Kinda messed up ngl]
[Lol you don’t get it. The one he doesn’t love IS the homewrecker. The ML is obsessed with the FL. The villainess just had him confused for a while]
Ha.
In my past life, I’d caught them in that same bed. They’d cried through the whole thing, swore it meant nothing, just one stupid mistake that went too far. Then they told me to keep my mouth shut.
When I tried to call it off, Arthur threw himself into traffic. His family blamed me for everything, and I had no way to fight back.
Arthur sent Chloe away. Family and friends wore me down, little by little, until I caved. I forgave him.
Every comment scrolling past was proof of how completely I’d been played.
I stood up and turned to the cameraman. “Kevin, are you still filming? I want to get a few candid shots.”
Kevin Miller grinned. “Sure thing. I got you.”
I marched to the bridal suite with half the wedding party trailing behind me.
The comments exploded.
[???]
[What’s happening rn??]
[What is the villainess up to now lol]
I flashed the camera my sweetest smile and tried the handle.
Locked from the inside.
Arthur’s best man came sprinting over, barely catching his breath. “Audrey, Arthur’s waiting for you outside. Come on, let’s not keep him.”
The comments loved that.
[What a wingman!! Get the villainess out of there before she catches the ML and FL]
[NOW that’s a real bro. Absolutely clutch]
I tilted my head, still smiling. “The door’s locked from the inside. I need to get some footage in there.”
Then I pulled out my phone and transferred a thousand bucks to Kevin on the spot.
“Kick it down. Anything that breaks is on me.”
Oliver Brooks’s jaw dropped. The comments weren’t far behind.
[The villainess has LOST it, omg she’s straight up humiliating the ML in front of everyone]
[This wedding just turned into a live catch in the act special]
[SOMEONE STOP HER the villainess is completely unhinged]
Oliver forced a smile that looked painful. “Audrey, come on. It’s your wedding day. Arthur’s out there waiting. Let’s just go.”
I shoved him aside and looked at Kevin. “Kick it in.”
The second Oliver realized I wasn’t bluffing, the loyalty drained right out of his face. He spun toward the door. “AUDREY’S COMING IN!”
Kevin kicked once. The door flew open.
