I Slapped the Villain After 99 Rebirths Chapter 03

Joseph warned me to stay away from him, so I did, for an entire week.

That week, I finally saw Benjamin, the male lead.

Unlike I’d imagined, Benjamin looked gentle and proper, except for a lingering melancholy in his eyes.

I secretly watched him for a few days.

He seemed normal enough. I had no idea how to stop his suicidal thoughts.

At the track, I sat on the bleachers, staring at Benjamin on the field, my expression full of resentment.

To anyone watching, it probably looked like I had a huge crush on him.

Joseph, wearing his basketball jersey, spotted me from across the field. His face went cold.

He walked straight over, his tall figure blocking my view.

I looked up at him and got lost in his gorgeous face for a full three seconds.

“What’s up?”

During the three seconds I ogled him, the gloom on Joseph’s face visibly lifted.

He crouched down to my level, his tone sharp. “Why are you staring at Benjamin?”

“Why can’t I?” I answered automatically.

Joseph’s eyes narrowed dangerously, sending a chill down my spine.

“You lied to me, didn’t you?” he said quietly.

My heart seized.

“I’ve never seen you before, and you’re not my type.”

“There’s no way I’d fall for you. The only possibility is you wearing me down with persistence.”

“But you haven’t made a single move on me. You don’t act like someone who likes me at all.”

“And that day you came to find me, I had my back to you. The seat I was in belonged to Benjamin. You’ve been spacing out staring at Benjamin for days. You were looking for him, weren’t you?”

Joseph’s analysis made my scalp tingle.

How did he get so smart all of a sudden?

Oh, right. He’s the villain. High intelligence and EQ, maxed out.

Joseph locked his eyes on mine, not missing a single flicker of emotion.

Help! My live chat family!

[I’m here! Don’t panic, girl!]

[The villain has a unique little habit after kissing.]

[He’s always fond of small sweet gestures like that.]

[He’s always been quite clingy and likes staying close no matter where we are.]

Wait, something’s off here?

I was too stressed and too desperate to think. I blurted it out immediately.

“You have a habit when you kiss. When you finish, you like to lick the roof of my mouth.”

After saying it quickly, I felt my face flush.

Joseph looked briefly surprised but quickly laughed coldly. “Nice story.”

Then his expression suddenly darkened, as if recalling something unpleasant. His eyes turned pitch black.

“Did you know? I think kissing is the most disgusting thing in the world.”

My survival instinct took over, and I threw caution to the wind. “That’s because you’ve never kissed me.”

“Fine, don’t believe me? Then kiss me!”

A flicker of emotion crossed Joseph’s eyes.

His gaze dropped to my lips.

I acted like I didn’t care, but inside, I was a nervous wreck.

What if he actually does it?

Do I dodge or not?

If I dodge, I’m exposed.

I hoped Joseph would back down.

Instead, he leaned in closer, inch by inch.

My whole body tensed. My mind went blank.

My heart pounded like a drum.

In my vision, Joseph tilted his head, and his breath ghosted across the bridge of my nose.

Our lips were just a couple of inches apart.

My fingers twitched.

“In your dreams.”

“You think I’d fall for that and actually kiss you?”

Joseph suddenly pulled back, a smirk playing on his lips as he looked at my flushed face.

“So this is how you hooked future me, huh?”

“I’ll admit, you’ve got some skills.”

The tension in my nerves loosened all at once.

I was completely baffled by Joseph’s words.

When was I trying to hook him?

I frowned, thinking, which Joseph interpreted as disappointment over a failed scheme.

He stood up, looking down at me.

He clicked his tongue lightly. “You like me that much, huh?”

“I have a basketball game this weekend. You can come bring me a drink.”
