I Saw My Alpha Mate’s Betrayal, So I Changed Fate Chapter 06
My family is left in complete shock, while in the car, Landon finally tells me the truth.
“He lied to you. That bond-sealing deal was never real.”
“As for the mark, he had a witch create a fake tattoo and trick you into believing he’d marked you.
That’s why I said no one could help you.”
“But I never knew you were my mate.”
I pause for a moment, but I feel nothing.
There’s nothing left inside me anymore.
“I see.”
I give him a faint smile.
“Then that’s even better. We don’t have to waste time removing it.
“We cant go straight to the Luna Coronation, if you’re willing.”
Landon looks at me with surprise and delight. He tightens his grip on my hand, his expression
turning solemn.
“Of course, Harper. Trust me.”
His gaze is warm and unwavering, and for the first time, my heart finally settles.
I gently nod.
The helicopter roars into the night sky, carrying me away from the place that is no longer worth looking back on, away from the territory of Darkstone Pack.
Meanwhile, the Beta House has already descended into chaos.
“You told us it was a bond-sealing deal! Why would you do that?”
Marcus’s chest heaves as he glares at Nolan.
“The Bonding Ceremony was fake. Even the marriage certificate was fake.”
“Nolan, who do you actually love?”
Nolan lowers his head in shame, his throat tightening as if something is lodged there.
“Harper. Of course I love Harper!”
“But the day before I marked her, Abigail drank wolfsbane in my office. She said she couldn’t take it
anymore.”
She said she was my mate, yet every time she saw Harper and me together, she wanted to kill herself. She said she wanted to leave this world.”
“I had no choice. I asked the elders to help me put on a show.”
The moment he finishes, even Tobias and Quinn fall completely silent.
They always think the only thing Harper is giving up is a Bonding Ceremony.
But the truth is, Nolan crossed that line long ago.
“You wanted to have it both ways? Dream on!”
Mom finally gets to her feet and starts screaming at the “perfect son-in-law” she’s always been so pleased with.
“She must have found out about you and Abigail. That’s why she dumped you!”
“Now she’s leaving you, and she’s cutting us off too!”
Her face turns deathly pale, as if everything that has happened is somehow Nolan’s fault.
Nolan clenches his jaw as they dump all the blame on him. Finally, he explodes.
“What? Wasn’t it you who came up with the idea of Abigail taking her place?”
“I never agreed to it! You were the ones who kept pressuring me until I had no choice but to grant
her wish!”
“You were all part of this. And now you want to wash your hands of it?”
“Not happening!”
Marcus’s hands fall limply to his sides as he covers his head in anguish.
Mom and Dad refuse to back down and quickly start arguing with Nolan.
The happy “family” they once were has turned into a vicious spectacle of everyone tearing into one
another.
And throughout it all, the only person who remains silent is Sophie.
She stands in the corner, filled with regret, sending me message after message.
But before long, a glaring red exclamation mark appears on her screen.
She’s been blocked.
Sophie loosens her grip, and her phone slips from her hand and hits the floor.
This time, no one picks it up for her.
“Good evening. We’re here on behalf of the Alpha King and the future Luna Queen to discuss these documents with you.”
Half an hour later, Landon’s Beta, Nick, arrives with several lawyers, temporarily bringing the
chaos to a halt.
They place several documents on the table.
Tobias immediately spots the severance document on top and shoots to his feet.
“Cut ties? Absolutely not!”
“Please don’t misunderstand.”
The lawyer wears a polite but icy smile.
“Legally, a complete severance of parent-child ties isn’t currently possible. You are Ms. Delaney’s biological father, and that won’t change.”
“However, from now on, Ms. Delaney will provide only the minimum support required by local
law.”
“You are not permitted to contact or disturb her without a legitimate reason. Other than her funeral, any further interference may be treated as harassment.”
Under local law, the minimum required support is five hundred dollars a month.
In the past, I give my family a five-figure sum every month.
My parents can’t accept this at all.
“No! She’s my daughter! She’ll always be my daughter, even after I’m dead!”
“Actually, you don’t exactly lack daughters.”
Another lawyer calmly pulls out a document.
He points toward Abigail.
“Take a look. She’s your daughter too.”
Quinn excitedly gets to her feet, about to argue that Abigail is only their adopted child, but then she
suddenly sees the words on the document.
A paternity test report.
Tobias Delaney & Abigail Delaney.
Biological parentage confirmed.
Abigail…is actually Dad’s illegitimate daughter.
