I Loved the Heir in Disguise Chapter 10
Jace found out my current address.Â
He stood outside Lancaster Manor, saying nothingÂ
Just staring quietly at the window of my room.Â
My mother and Elias came to ask me who he was.Â
I closed the curtains, feeling no big waves in myÂ
heart.Â
It was as if Jace was just a stranger to me now.Â
Jace brought all kinds of things I used to like everyÂ
day.Â
Roast duck I had craved for half a year but neverÂ
dared to buy.Â
A beautiful dress I had stared at for a long time inÂ
the shop window but never dared to try on.Â
He seemed to want to make up for everything heÂ
had not given me before.Â
But looking at the closet full of the latest season’sÂ
designer clothes, the piles of snacks and dessertsÂ
piled up in the corner.Â
All of these had been prepared by Adrian inÂ
advance before I came home.Â
He did not make me wait.Â
Nor did he make me ask.Â
I thought, this is what it really means to put someone in your heart.Â
As soon as Adrian got off work, he would come toÂ
see me.Â
The wedding day was getting closer, and he seemed to be getting a little nervous too.Â
I leaned on his shoulder and could not help butÂ
laugh.Â
“I’m the one marrying you, not you marrying me.”Â
“Why are you nervous?”Â
Adrian seriously held my face, lowered his headÂ
and kissed my lips gently.Â
“Of course I’m nervous to marry the girl I love.”Â
“Mia, you have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for this day.”Â
I stared at my own reflection reflected in his eyes,Â
and a warm current slowly flowed through myÂ
heart.Â
It rained at night, and Adrian stayed.Â
He looked at the stubborn figure at the manorÂ
gate, wrapped his arms around my waist jealously.Â
A slight stinging pain came from my earlobe.Â
Adrian whispered, his voice carrying a littleÂ
grievance.Â
“Mia, why does everyone want to take you away?”Â
“You’re really too good.”Â
“I’m always scared that I won’t be able to keepÂ
you.”Â
I wrapped my arms around Adrian’s neck.Â
The calm and handsome man in front of meÂ
gradually overlapped with the childish but seriousÂ
boy in my memory who had promised to protectÂ
me forever.Â
I took the initiative to stand on tiptoes and kissÂ
Adrian’s lips.Â
“Don’t be scared.”Â
“I like you the most right now.”Â
“Adrian, I really love you.”Â
I later found out that it was stormy that night, withÂ
thunder rumbling.Â
Jace was soaked to the bone, standing stubbornlyÂ
and messily in the rain.Â
He could not believe that Mia really did not loveÂ
him anymore.Â
She must just still be angry.Â
Mia had always been soft–hearted.Â
As long as he apologized properly, she wouldÂ
definitely forgive him.Â
But Jace stood in the rain all night.Â
He had a high fever and could barely stand, butÂ
Mia never came out to find him with an umbrella.Â
The second before he passed out, Jace smiled sadly and mockingly.Â
It seemed that he had really lost the Mia who had loved him with all her heart and soul.Â
Jace really did come to my wedding with Adrian.Â
He wore a low–key dark suit and handed me aÂ
thick wedding envelope.Â
Inside was exactly eight thousand eight hundredÂ
dollars.Â
I did not take it.Â
He then held out a beautiful pink diamond ring.Â
Pink was my least favorite color.Â
But under Jace’s almost pleading gaze, I stillÂ
accepted it.Â
If I did not like it, I could sell it and donate theÂ
money to a domestic violence women’s shelter orÂ
a children’s foundation.Â
Jace sat quietly the whole time.Â
He watched me walk down the long carpetÂ
covered with eastern redbud blossoms.Â
Watched me take Adrian’s hand.Â
When we exchanged rings, I saw him quickly wipe.Â
a tear.Â
Amid the crowd’s cheers of “KISS HER!“, JaceÂ
lowered his eyes and looked away.Â
Adrian hugged my waist jealously and bit my lip gently as punishment.Â
“Little liar.”Â
“You said you would only look at me from now on.”Â
I laughed and nodded hard.Â
“Yeah.”Â
“I’ll only look at you from now on.”Â
Eastern redbud petals fell all over the sky.Â
Adrian and I kissed amid the warm cheers of theÂ
crowd.Â
I could not hear the excited screams of the peopleÂ
around me.Â
I could only hear Adrian’s thunderous heartbeat.Â
After the wedding, Jace left at some point.Â
His seat was empty.Â
Only the thick envelope containing eight thousandÂ
eight hundred dollars remained.Â
I still did not take it.Â
Left it there quietly.Â
Once, I had really wanted to have that eight thousand eight hundred dollars in wedding.Â
savings.Â
To be Jace’s bride joyfully.Â
But now, I suddenly realized.Â
Without Jace.Â
Without that money.Â
I could still find my own happiness.Â
The person who truly loves you will always stand behind you, waiting quietly for you to turn back.Â
And luckily this time, I turned back.Â
And ran straight to Adrian.
