I prayed for Felicity again before leaving the cemetery.
“Felicity, I hope you hear me. Come visit me in my dreams tonight. I truly want to see you one more time.”
After I was done, I got up and returned to the Lumley family’s mansion.
That night, I drank a glass of milk to help me sleep. After I fell asleep, I really did see Felicity in my dreams.
We hugged each other excitedly.
“Scarlett, I told you back then that Raymond looked like a gold-digging loser. You didn’t listen. He almost destroyed you.”
“Felicity, I know you have been watching over me. I miss you so much.’
“I missed you too. That’s why I’m here.”
“That’s great! I’m going to pray for you every day. Then, we can see each other in dreams often.”
Felicity shook her head. “That’s not allowed. I will soon have to cross over for good.”
I was just getting excited about seeing her. When she told me this news, I felt sad again.
Felicity comforted me and said, “Scarlett, now you know Raymond for who he really is. I’ve looked at your future. It’s smooth sailing from here on out for you. You’ll have more money and success than you’ll ever need. Knowing this, I can cross over with peace of mind.”
An idea then popped into my head.
“Felicity, I’ll name my daughter after you! I’ll love and protect her well. I’ll make her the happiest person in this world.”
Felicity’s eyes lit up.
“Are you serious?”
“Of course! I’ll go drop by the sperm bank tomorrow to pick out a good specimen. I’ll get myself pregnant and name my daughter after you.”
After finalizing everything with my best friend, the next day, I immediately went to the sperm bank to select high- quality sperm for artificial insemination.
One month later, sure enough, two lines appeared on the pregnancy test.
My daughter was a blessing. After I became pregnant, not only did I have no morning sickness at all, but even my skin became fairer and more radiant than before.
When I was six months pregnant, I went to a baby store to buy things my baby would need after birth.
As soon as I stepped out of the neighborhood, a man with a dirty face and ragged clothes rushed in front of me,
I thought he was a homeless beggar. Wanting to do good deeds in the name of my unborn daughter, I took out one hundred dollars from my bag and tossed it to him.
Unexpectedly, he reached out and grabbed my wrist.
“Scarlett, it’s me.”
After hearing the man’s voice, I finally realized that the man standing before me was actually Raymond.
Back then, after he left the marriage with nothing, he was scammed by ill-intentioned friends and was trafficked. He even called me once, crying miserably and begging me to pay a ransom for him.
I hung up the call immediately. Then, I blocked all international incoming calls. I thought that since he had entered a den of wolves like that, I would never see him again.
To my surprise, he somehow managed to come back alive.
Raymond’s gaze paused on my pregnant belly. Then, joy flashed through his eyes.
“Scarlett, that baby in your belly is mine, isn’t it?”
I shook off his arm and stepped back in disgust.
“You think you’re worthy of being my child’s father? The baby in my belly has nothing to do with you.”
However, Raymond did not believe what I said. He firmly believed that the baby in my belly was his. He kept begging me to forgive him for the child’s sake and let him return to my side.
I knew arguing with him was useless, so I just got in the car and drove off. Then, to keep my unborn baby safe, I pulled some strings and had him banned from the city for good.
After my baby reached full term, I had an extremely fast and smooth delivery. Even the doctors and nurses at the hospital said she was a little angel.
I picked up my baby and kissed her on the cheek.
“Felicity, from now on, it’s my turn to protect you.”
