I sneered and said, “Raymond, I don’t do second chances. We’re done.”
Raymond dropped to his knees right in front of me. He wept and begged pitifully.
“No, I truly know I was wrong. Nobody’s perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. You can’t just refuse to give me one chance to make things right.”
I kicked him to the ground.
“You’re in no position to negotiate with me.
After saying that, I walked straight into the neighborhood. Raymond tried to chase after me again, but the security guards immediately stopped him.
“Ms. Lumley was the one who bought this house. As of now, you’re no longer a resident here. Please leave immediately. If you try to come back in, we won’t be nice about it.”
With the help of the woman beside her, Selena quickly stood up and rushed to say to me, “Ms. Lumley, where’s my baby?”
Without turning my head back, I said, “Follow me.”
Selena followed closely behind me as I led her to another building in the same neighborhood.
When I opened the door, the nanny, Lina, stood up and came over to greet me.
“Hello, Ms. Lumley.”
Inodded. “How’s the baby I gave you yesterday doing?”
“He cried at first. Then, I fed him some formula. After that, he ate and slept well. He has been very well-behaved.”
The truth was that the baby had been in this neighborhood the entire time.
Yesterday, after I heard the child’s inner thoughts and learned that he was Raymond’s illegitimate son, I called Lina, the nanny from my parents’ house.
I told her to bring the baby to this neighborhood and wait for my instructions.
When Selena saw her baby, she rushed over and hugged him tight.
“Oh, my baby. I was wrong. I shouldn’t have listened to Raymond. He almost separated us forever. I’m taking you home right now. From now on, we’re never going to be separated again.”
The baby, who had been sleeping, was woken up by the noise. As soon as he opened his eyes and saw his biological mother, his eyes widened instantly.
The baby thought, ‘What’s going on? Why is my mom here? Why is she talking about taking me home? I eat good food and sleep in a nice place here. I even have a nanny taking care of me. I don’t want to go back.’
He pouted and burst into loud crying.
‘I’m not going back! I’m not going back! I want to become part of the Lumley family. Gabriel clearly said God will let me be rich and noble,’ he thought.
Selena thought the baby was crying so pitifully because he missed her, too. She quickly patted his back and
soothed him. “Don’t cry. Mom’s here. I’ll never abandon you alone again.”
I smiled and looked at the baby as I said, “You can only be part of the Lumley family if you come from my womb. Not any stray babies can waltz in and take that spot.”
After hearing this, the child was stunned. Then, he cried even harder.
‘No! No! Gabriel, you’d better tell me what’s going on right now! You promised me a life of wealth. I served you faithfully for ten years. Why is it all gone?’ he thought.
