I Heard My Husband’s Illegitimate Son’s Thoughts Chapter 06
“Honey, I can explain this to you, too. I—”
I could not bear his hypocritical behavior any longer. I decided to lay everything out plainly.
“Raymond, I know you married into my family back then just for the Lumley family’s power and wealth. Everyone wants to climb up in life. Having ambition isn’t a bad thing.
“However, now I finally see that your greed runs deeper than your ambition. You always have one eye on the next thing. In the end, that’s just going to backfire and leave you with absolutely nothing.”
Raymond was left speechless by my rebuttal. He unwillingly asked, “I never slipped up this whole time. How did you figure it out?”
I snorted coldly and replied, “You can’t do something bad and expect no one to ever find out. A baby suddenly shows up out of nowhere right in front of me? Of course, I was going to get suspicious.
“You thought you were being perfect. But honestly, I could find out the truth easily if I were to just investigate.”
To be honest, I was really not that sharp. I had always been carefree, and I did not fuss over small matters. In our five years of marriage, I had never once considered the possibility that he would cheat on me.
If I had not inexplicably heard the inner thoughts of his illegitimate baby, I probably would have really fallen for
his scheme.
However, the fact that I could hear a baby’s thoughts was simply too absurd. Nothing I had learned or seen before could have prepared me for that. If I revealed it, everyone would probably think I had gone crazy.
Raymond was indeed very careful about covering his tracks. After I got the paternity test results yesterday, I quickly hired a private investigator.
However, they had yet to find out who the baby’s biological mother was.
I looked at Raymond and said in a serious tone, “Now, I’m only going to say this once. If the biological mother doesn’t show herself, then none of you will ever see your son again.”
Everyone agreed with my decision.
“That’s right. Bring out the mistress. She had the guts to sleep with someone else’s husband and give birth to his baby. So, why doesn’t she have the guts to show her face now?
“These adulterers are absolutely evil. They actually tried to use their own illegitimate child to steal someone else’s family fortune.
“We need to stand up for the lawful wife’s rights. The other woman had better get out of here right now!”
“Yes, now!”
Amid the chorus of voices shouting in unison, a woman slowly came out of a black car not far away.
She was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and long pants. Her entire body was covered up, but she seemed somewhat familiar to me.
As she walked closer and closer, I finally remembered who she was. She was Selena Guant.
Selena also lived in this neighborhood. She lived on the floor directly below mine. I had seen her a few times while in the elevator.
She slowly walked up, looked me in the eye, and pleaded, “Ms. Lumley, now that I have shown myself, can you please bring out my child?”
I took a good look at her. Her complexion was very pale and haggard. It seemed that being separated from her baby must have been very agonizing for her.
Since I had the baby, all the leverage was on my side. They had personally handed me that leverage.
I asked, “How did you and Raymond meet? When exactly did he start cheating on me with you behind my back ·
She answered weakly, “Raymond and I met back in high school. We fell in love in college. After we/graduated, he started working at Lumley Group.”
There was a trace of resentment when she said, “You were the one who fell for him. You used your power and status to force him to break up with me. Every single second he spends with you is pure torture for him.”
I scoffed. “Oh, is that what Raymond told you? He said I forced him to marry me?”
She said firmly, “I don’t need him to tell me. The truth is obvious. Ray and I are meant for each other.”
I turned to look at Raymond.
“Since everyone is here right now, Raymond, why don’t you go ahead and set the record straight? What exactly did I ever force you to do?
“Did I force you two to break up? Or did I force you to marry me?”
Under the pressure of my gaze, Raymond lowered his head and said softly, “No. Everything I did, I did because I wanted to.”
