I Gave Them Their Show. I Gave Her My Wedding Chapter 03

I Gave Them Their Show. I Gave Her My Wedding Chapter 03

I found a random hotel for the night.

I drafted my resignation and made a call,

“I accept the offer. I’ll land in the UK tomorrow.”

The voice on the other end was delighted.

I booked my flight. Four hours passed.

My phone buzzed—Reid. I hesitated, then answered.

His voice was tired, “Nova, you left the group? Don’t make a scene.”

“I’ve talked to Blair. She said you can come back.”

“You just have to do the chores and cook three meals a day.”

I laughed bitterly, “Reid, you really think I’m a maid?”

“Don’t talk like that. You know Blair’s situation.”

“Listen—she’s hosting a dinner tomorrow. I’ll send you the grocery list.”

A long list appeared. Blair’s ribeye.

Reid’s seafood salad. Mira’s juice. Arlo’s barbecue. Dozens of items.

None of them were for me.

Once again, I was left out.

I hung up and blocked him.

The next morning, I headed to the office with my resignation.

Before I could walk in, Blair charged at me with a crowd of reporters.

She slapped me before I could react.

A diary landed at my feet—the one I’d thrown away.

The one Reid had written for me.

“Nova! So this is why you wouldn’t leave our house!”

“You’ve been fantasizing about my husband in your diary!”

“I thought we were best friends—how could you do this to me?”

My ears rang. Reporters swarmed me.

“Ms. Vance, I heard you stayed as Mr. Sterling’s secretary for six years—rejecting higher offers from other companies.”

“Were you trying to get close to him?”

“Have you been staying in Ms. Voss’s house trying to steal her husband?”

Cameras flashed. Passersby stopped to stare.

The insults came in waves.

I couldn’t take it anymore, “I didn’t write those diaries!”

“Reid wrote them for me! You lost your memory—you mistook him for your boyfriend.”

“The person Reid was supposed to marry—was me!”

The crowd went quiet for a second.

Then Mira pushed through and slapped me across the other cheek.

Her eyes glistened perfectly.

She faced the cameras, “I’m sorry you had to see this.”

“My sister has been obsessed with Mr. Sterling for years.”

“I never thought she’d write something so disgusting—and then blame him for it.”

I held my burning face and stared at her in disbelief.

Arlo pushed through with Reid.

He spat at me, “Nova, you’d steal Blair’s husband? Are you that desperate?”

Reid’s eyes flickered with guilt—but his voice was calm,

“Ms. Vance and I are just ordinary friends. Nothing more.”

“My wife has always been Blair. Only Blair.”

The last shred of hope was crushed.
