I Gave Them Their Show. I Gave Her My Wedding Chapter 01
The moment before the crash, Blair shielded me with her body.
When I woke up, she had lost her memory.
She mistook my fiancé for her boyfriend.
To help her recover, the five of us decided to go along with it.
Month one. My pre-wedding trip went to Blair.
She held Reid’s hand and kissed him under the crowd’s cheers.
I followed behind, carrying four people’s bags.
Month two. Blair moved into mine and Reid’s house.
My name was crossed off the deed. Hers took its place.
My sister Mira comforted me, “Blair lost her memory saving you.”
“We’re just going along with it to help her recover.”
I believed her.
I forced a smile and played along.
Month nine. I finished my bridal makeup and rushed to the venue.
Blair was already wearing my dress.
She smiled, arm in arm with Reid, greeting the guests.
Mira patted my shoulder, “Blair found the dress last night.”
“We couldn’t tell her the truth. Let her have the wedding.”
Reid’s brother Arlo laughed, “You’ve given in eight times. What’s one more?”
My chest tightened. My ring felt heavy.
I looked up. Blair was wearing my spare ring.
It fit her perfectly.
The dress that was too small for me—fit her like it was made for her.
Everyone knew.
The only one who refused to play along—was me.
I laughed bitterly. I took off the ring.
The ninth act. I’d give them this one.
—
I dropped the ring into the bin.
They both looked surprised. Mira frowned—but Blair cut in,
“Nova! You’re here! Do I look pretty?”
She spun around, “I mentioned this dress once to Reid, and he remembered.”
“And this ring—it’s my favorite style.”
“Reid told me you helped him plan everything. I’m so lucky to have you.”
I froze.
So that’s why the dress was changed. Why the spare ring was twice as big.
This wedding was never for me.
Mira panicked, “Of course you’re beautiful, Blair! This should be recorded!”
Arlo grabbed the camera, “Everyone! Group photo!”
The crowd rushed forward.
The four of them stood in front.
Arlo shoved the camera into my hands, “Nova, you’re good at this. Take a few.”
The spotlight hit. Blair leaned on Reid’s shoulder.
He looked down at her—deeply in love.
Everyone surrounded them.
It was exactly the wedding I’d dreamed of.
Someone shouted, “Kiss!”
Reid hesitated. Blair stood on her toes and kissed him.
Cheers exploded.
Arlo yelled, “Nova! Don’t just stand there! Capture the moment!”
I raised the camera. One photo. Two. Dozens.
Reid and Blair kissed again and again. Everyone laughed.
Only my eyes burned.
A soft voice came from beside me, “Miss, the banquet’s started. Do you need a seat?”
I looked around. Everyone was inside.
Three hundred seats were all full.
None for me.
I smiled bitterly. “No need.”
No seat for me—I didn’t want one.
This five-person friendship—I didn’t want it either.
