I Drank Silverwolf’s Bane for His Sake, but He Thought It Was an Act Chapter 08

I Drank Silverwolf’s Bane for His Sake, but He Thought It Was an Act Chapter 08

Noah came back with a flash drive.

“Mr. Walker. I have the surveillance. But…”

“Play it.”

Ethan snatched the laptop, jammed in the flash drive, and opened the files.

The screen lit up with the interior footage of the underground safe house.

He stared at it, not daring to blink.

The timestamp said it was the dead of night, three days earlier.

By then, I had endured seven full days in the safe house.

I was thin enough to look skeletal. My cheekbones jutted out, and my eyes had sunk deep into my

face.

On the screen, I huddled in a corner, clutching the metal box.

Then a small bottle rolled in through the ventilation duct that connected the safe house to the

outside.

It was the bottle that had held the wolfsbane.

A note dropped after it.

Ethan paused the video and zoomed in.

The handwriting on the note was unmistakable.

It was Sophia’s.

Olivia – Ethan has already left with me by helicopter.

Blackrock Clan will break through with the rogue werewolf horde any moment now.

They’ll follow your mate mark to Ethan.

This bottle of wolfsbane is what Ethan asked me to leave for you.

He said as long as you die, the mark will break, and he’ll be safe.

This is the last thing he can do for you.

Veins bulged in Ethan’s neck.

He slammed his fist into the computer desk.

His knuckles split. Blood poured down his hand.

I floated above him and watched his agony, finding it almost laughable.

It had taken him this long to see what Sophia really was?

The video kept playing.

I had picked up the note and read it over and over.

I didn’t collapse.

I didn’t scream.

I only folded the note carefully and slipped it into my pocket.

Then I walked over to the metal box full of energy bars.

I looked at the food I had saved.

And then I smiled.

The smile looked worse than crying.

I unscrewed the small white bottle.

I tipped my head back and drank it all.

Three minutes later, the poison took hold.

On the surveillance footage, I clutched my stomach and went down.

My body curled in on itself. Both hands clenched around my own throat.

I rolled across the floor. My forehead struck the metal bed frame, splitting open.

I crawled to the door and clawed at the iron with everything I had.

The metal tore my nails back, leaving long, terrible smears of blood on the door.

I opened my mouth wide and frantically mouthed something toward the surveillance camera

overhead.

Ethan… it hurts.

I struggled in a pool of blood for four full hours.

Four hours.

Every minute, every second, recorded clearly.

At the end, I convulsed and reached out, as if trying to grab hold of something.

Then I collapsed, and never moved again.

Ethan stared at my motionless figure on the screen.

Then he turned and kicked the chair in front of him across the room.

Sophia stood by the door. He charged at her like an unleashed animal.

She screamed and stumbled backward.

“Ethan! Listen to me! The props team mixed something up! I didn’t know it was real wolfsbane!”

Ethan didn’t listen.

He grabbed Sophia by the hair and dragged her to the floor.

“Didn’t know?”

“Break the mark? When did I ever tell you to trick her into breaking the mark?”

“You put the wolfsbane in her hands. You made her believe I had abandoned her.”

Ethan grabbed the ashtray off the table and smashed it into Sophia’s shoulder.

Sophia screamed, curled on the floor, clutching her shoulder.

“Ethan, I was wrong! I just wanted to scare her! I didn’t want her dead!”

Ethan drove his foot into her stomach.

She flew back and hit the floor several feet away, coughing blood. She couldn’t get up.

Ethan walked over and ground his heel down on the back of her hand.

“Of course you didn’t want her to die quickly. You wanted her to die slowly, in despair.”

He bent down, clamped a hand around Sophia’s throat, and hauled her up.

“Since you like the blood moon hunt so much – I’ll let you experience it for yourself.”
