I Called Him from Under an AVALANCHE, But He Declined to Bed His Secretary Chapter 08

She saw his arms around me, and something in 

her snapped the look on her face was 

murderous. “Hazel… Why are you back?! Why 

couldn’t you just stay gone? You came here to 

wreck my family!” 

She grabbed me and ripped me out of his arms. 

She was screaming, hands clawing at the air, 

lunging for me. 

Julian caught her with one arm, his face twisted 

with disgust. “Enough!” 

I watched, and something about it surprised me. 

Three years ago, they used to be inseparable. Hel 

would’ve done anything for her. What happened? 

Sienna watched Julian shield me, watched him 

shout at her instead. 

Tears rolled down her face. “Julian, I’m your wife! 

Three years – you’ve spent the last three years 

chasing after this bitch!” 

“You don’t give a damn about me or your own. 

son!” Julian’s face darkened. 

Then she switched tactics just like that. The 

rage vanished and she was begging, voice small 

and broken. “Julian, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have 

yelled.” 

Her eyes went wide and desperate. “Let’s just go. 

home, okay? Please? You haven’t been home in 

months, Julian. I’m begging you.” 

I stood there and watched. This wasn’t the same. 

Sienna who’d sat on my bed three years ago, 

touching my husband’s sheets with a smile on her 

face. 

Her hair was chopped short, hanging limp and 

shapeless around her face. Her skin looked.

sallow. Her eyes were raw red–rimmed, 

bloodshot, the eyes of someone who hadn’t. 

stopped crying in years. 

I didn’t feel satisfaction. I didn’t feel vindicated. If 

anything, I felt sad. 

I saw the old me in her. Julian shook her off. “Don’t 

touch me. You make my skin crawl.” 

“I’m not coming back. Keep the house. I’ll make 

sure you’re taken care of financially. But we’re 

getting a divorce the sooner, the better.” 

Every drop of color drained from Sienna’s face. 

Her eyes went empty. 

Emptier than mine had ever been and I’d gone blind. “What did you say?” 

“A divorce?” She was shaking from head to toe. Then her eyes locked on me, and the grief turned 

to poison. 

“It’s you… This is your doing, Hazel! You put him. up to this! You bitch you fucking bitch!” 

“I’ll ruin you!” She lunged at me. Julian caught her and shoved her back. She hit the ground hard. 

“Enough! This has nothing to do with Hazel! I’m 

the one who’s done with you!” 

He shut his eyes. Even his anger looked exhausted. “Three years we’ve been married. 

Three years of you losing your mind every time a 

woman so much as looks at me.” 

“How many deals have you blown up? You ran off every female secretary in the office. What else do you want from me?!” Sienna sat on the ground, face streaked with tears. 

“That’s my fault…” A laugh ripped out of her – ugly, raw, nothing funny about it. 

“You’ve done this before! You had an affair with 

me your own secretary! What did you think was 

going to happen?” Julian went still. 

The fight went out of him all at once. “Yeah. It’s all 

my fault. And this is what I get for it. Sienna, we’re 

destroying each other let’s just end it.” 

“I’m asking you – please – just let me go.” Sienna 

dragged herself to her feet. “Not a chance. You’re 

never getting rid of me.” 

She turned and walked away. Harper and I looked 

at each other. Neither of us had words. 

Julian stood with his back half–turned, unable to 

meet my eyes. A bitter smile flickered across his 

mouth. “This is what learned, Hazel. For what I 

did to you.” 

“I regret everything… If I could go back – God, 

Hazel, I wouldn’t I’d never…” 

His shoulders were shaking. I didn’t know what to 

feel. 

My voice came out quieter than I expected. 

“There’s no such thing as going back, Julian. There 

never was.” 

“It’s done. Now go. And don’t come looking for me 

again.” 

He didn’t move. He stood there with his head 

bowed, shoulders heaving, and the sound that tore 

out of him was barely human. 

“I’m sorry…” I turned and walked inside with 

Harper, leaving him standing there. 

Minutes later, the sky opened up. Rain hammered 

down in sheets. I never once looked back.
