I Broke Up With Him After The Concert Kiss Chapter 06

I Broke Up With Him After The Concert Kiss Chapter 06

When the plane landed, I breathed in the

foreign air deeply.

No Silas. No Lila.

It even smelled sweet.

My aunt was waiting for me at the gate.

When she saw the fading red rashes on my

neck, tears filled her eyes.

Elowen, you’ve been through so much.”

I hugged her and smiled, telling her I’d let

everything go.

My aunt helped me enroll in the best

University Pathway Program around.

I had a solid academic foundation, so I

caught up quickly.

Every day, I buried myself in the library, discussing projects with classmates from all

over the world.

I never had to be woken up in the middle of

the night to run out and get someone food.

I never had to walk on eggshells, scared someone would have an attack.

I was free.

Back across the ocean, Silas’s life fell apart.

Community college classes were a joke, and

his dorm was always filled with smoke and gaming noise.

He’d once been the golden boy, and now he was stuck with people like this.

He started staying up all night, unable to sleep.

Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Elowen’s face, full of despair.

He tried playing the piano to numb himself.

But the damaged nerves in his right hand. made it impossible to play even a single

scale.

He smashed the keyboard in frustration.

Lila walked in and saw the mess.

She held out a bowl of noodles cautiously.

Silas, eat something.”

Silas didn’t even look at her. He swatted the

bowl away.

Soup splattered all over Lila.

Her eyes welled with tears as she stared at

him, hurt.

You still blame me, don’t you?”

Silas looked at her, at her perpetually

helpless, tearful expression, and felt nothing

but irritation.

When Elowen was around, he’d thought Lila needed protecting.

Now, seeing her every day, he realized she

had nothing but tears.

He missed Elowen’s strength and

independence more and more.

He missed the warm milk she made him

every morning.

He missed the way she looked at him, full of

unreserved love.

But he’d pushed her away himself.

Back in her dorm, Lila took off her clothes.

She stared at the ugly burn scar on her body.

She’d gotten it saving Elowen.

But now, the scar felt like a joke.

She remembered kneeling at Elowen’s

parentsgrave when she was seven.

I’ll protect Elowen with my life, always.”

What had she done instead?

She’d slept with Elowen’s boyfriend.

She’d watched Elowen’s future get

destroyed.

She’d watched Elowen eat something that

could’ve killed her.

Guilt gnawed at her like a venomous snake.

Lila buried her face in her hands and sobbed.

She’d messed up.

And there was no going back.
