I Am Not An Omega, I Am The Queen Of The Deep Sea Chapter 02

“Got it.” I grabbed a tissue and wiped my finger casually, my voice flatter than usual.

Before, I would’ve teared up, apologized meekly, or tried to reason with them—said I was just worried about Dad’s health and wanted to cut him some fruit.

But today, I was tired.

Really tired.

That dehydrated, suffocating feeling made every breath feel like swallowing razor blades.

Alaric paused, like he hadn’t expected me to be so calm.

He frowned and was about to say something when noise came from the entryway.

Vaelor was home.

The man wore a perfectly tailored suit, his posture straight as a blade. His face was gorgeous—cold, untouchable, like snow on a mountain peak. I’d never seen a mountain in my life.

But when I first saw him by the sea, the way he made my heart race was no different than seeing one in person.

That face was why I’d lost my mind back then—not only saving him but also clinging to him for seven years.

“Dad!”

My three kids, who’d just been mocking me, instantly changed their faces. They rushed to greet him like they were competing for his attention.

Vaelor grunted an acknowledgment, set his coat aside, and looked past the kids at me.

That gaze—deep, possessive—had no warmth in it.

Like he was looking at a belonging.

“What happened to your hand?” he asked.

His voice was low and magnetic, the kind that made your ears melt.

Before, I would’ve already thrown myself at him, acting all pitiful and whiny.

But now, it just sounded loud.

“Nothing. Slipped while peeling an apple.” I stayed on the couch without moving.

Vaelor’s hand stopped mid-motion as he undid his tie.

He walked over, stood above me, and pinched my chin with his long fingers, forcing my head up.

“Thalassa, what’s with the attitude?”

His brow furrowed, clearly annoyed by my coldness.

“It’s your birthday. I pushed back other work to come home for you, and this is the face you give me?”

Oh. Right, it was my birthday. I’d even forgotten.

The birthday I told him was actually the day I found Vaelor. I wanted that day to mark my new life.

“Not giving you attitude.” I pushed his hand away. The spot where he touched me burned way too hot. “Just tired. I want to sleep.”

Vaelor stared at me, jaw tight. “Tired? You sit at home all day. What’s there to be tired about?”

I didn’t answer.

Vaelor’s face darkened.

No one in this family dared defy him.

“Thalassa.” His voice got heavier, a warning in his eyes. “Don’t test me. You know I can’t stand a disobedient Luna.”

This was the man I’d loved for seven years.

In his eyes, I wasn’t his cherished mate. Just an obedient Luna.

A pretty, useful, obedient decoration who could have pups.

Alaric wore the same cold expression as his father. A carbon copy of Vaelor.

Torren even let out a whistle. “Mom, quit being so dramatic and just apologize. Dad bought you that limited-edition necklace for your birthday. Like, fifty grand.”

Morrigan was looking at her storybook, turning pages extra loud on purpose.

I looked at that family of four and suddenly felt… empty.

Me, the mighty ruler of the deep sea, the queen of sirens—I’d spent seven years on land playing the weakling for… this?

What was the point?

Okay, fine. By wolf society standards, Vaelor really was untouchable, commanding legions of wolves.

But from where I stood now, looking at him… I just couldn’t stand him.

“Vaelor.”

I stood up and looked him straight in the eye.

This was the first time I said his name like that. Without any feeling behind it.

Vaelor’s eyes narrowed, and a dangerous aura filled the room.

“I want to go to the beach,” I said.
