Her Joke Cost Him Everything Chapter 07

Her Joke Cost Him Everything Chapter 07

Sloane’s voice was high and shrill, her body shaking like a leaf in the wind.

This time, nobody believed her.

Everyone in that hall had already seen her “masterclass” in acting.

Mr. Harrison let out a cold, disgusted laugh.

Jacob’s eyes remained dead. “Another performance? Is there a single word of truth in your mouth?”

Even the officers frowned, not stopping their advance.

She had played the bomb card. She had played the innocent victim.

Now she was playing the pregnancy card. Who would fall for it?

At that exact moment, the Hospital Chief’s phone rang. It was the donor’s family.

The mother who had just lost her daughter, and had endured the agony of signing the donation papers, had seen the viral videos.

She had recognized Sloane. She had cried until she fainted.

The last act of kindness her daughter left on this earth had been treated like trash.

The family wouldn’t let it go.

Their lawyer was on the line.

“We donated to save a life, not to have our daughter’s marrow turned into a joke. ”

“Whoever destroyed that donation will face the full extent of the law.”

Sloane was hyperventilating now.

She lunged toward me, reaching for my legs.

“Carey, please! Say something! Tell them I’m just immature! You’re so kind, Carey! Please save me!”

I looked down at her and remembered the previous life.

I remembered kneeling in that cabin, begging the pilot, the crew, and everyone else.

She had stood there then, enjoying the show, filming my desperation with a smirk.

I stepped back, letting her hand hit the floor.

As the police closed in, Sloane scrambled backward in a blind panic.

“I’m really pregnant! You can’t take me! Jacob, say something!”

Jacob just stared at her, his gaze arctic.

“Whether you’re pregnant or not–what does that have to do with me?”

Those words were the final blade. They gutted her.

Sloane froze. A second later, her face went deathly pale.

Her legs gave out, and she slid down the wall.

My eyes instinctively tracked the movement, and my pupils constricted.

Beneath the hem of her white dress, a deep, crimson stain was spreading.

The blood crawled down her leg in a jagged line, dripping onto the floor with a rhythmic, sickening

patter.

Someone in the hallway finally shrieked.

“She’s bleeding! Get OB–GYN up here now!”

Sloane clutched her stomach, her voice a broken whisper.

“Help memy baby… save my baby…”
