He Was Her Ex-Brother-In-Law Chapter 04
When Asher pinned me down, I thought myÂ
heart might explode.Â
His hands were planted on either side of myÂ
head. His muscles were taut as wire.Â
In the dark, I could hear him grinding his teeth.Â
“Sienna. You’ll regret this.”Â
I wrapped my arms around his neck andÂ
pulled him closer.Â
“No. I won’t.”Â
He dipped his head. His lips were about toÂ
meet mine.Â
Then someone knocked on the door.Â
Blackwood. It’s Ms. Sterling. She’s been in anÂ
accident, hit by a car. She’s in the ER now!”Â
“Mr.Â
The assistant’s voice came through the door.Â
Asher’s whole body seized.Â
He pulled himself off me, breathing ragged.Â
“Yeah. I got it.”Â
He swung off the bed, grabbed his jacket,Â
and headed for the door.Â
“Asher!”Â
I sat up and called after him.Â
He stopped at the door. He didn’t look back.Â
“Get some sleep.”Â
I picked up my phone and shot Celeste a text.Â
[Celeste. Heard you’re in the hospital. I’ll stop byÂ
tomorrow.]Â
She replied instantly.Â
[No need. It’sÂ
minor.]Â
I didn’t respond.Â
Early the next morning, I went to the hospital.Â
Celeste was lying in the bed, her ankleÂ
wrapped in bandages.Â
Asher sat beside her. Dark circles under hisÂ
eyes. He obviously hadn’t slept.Â
“Celeste. YouÂ
alright?”Â
I walked in with a smile.Â
She glanced at me, triumph hidden behind herÂ
eyes. “Oh, it’s nothing. Just twisted my ankle. Asher refused to leave. Stayed here all night.”Â
I turned to Asher.Â
“You’ve been up allÂ
night. Go home and rest. I’ll stay with her.”Â
“No.”Â
Asher looked at me.Â
Celeste reached out and wrapped her handÂ
around Asher’s wrist.Â
“Go rest, Asher. SiennaÂ
can keep me company.”Â
He gave a reluctant nod and left.Â
The moment he was gone, Celeste’s faceÂ
darkened.Â
“Sienna. What exactly do youÂ
want?”Â
I sat in the chair and crossed my legs.Â
“You want to know what I want? You stagedÂ
that little accident. Middle of the night. Desperate.Â
You couldn’t stand him putting his hands on me.”Â
Celeste’s face shifted.Â
“I have no ideaÂ
what you’re talking about.”Â
I laughed.Â
“Let me tell you something.Â
Asher Blackwood is mine.”Â
“And once he’s mine, I’ll make sure you get aÂ
copy of the video. Something to remember me by.”Â
She shook with rage.Â
I watched her lose her composure and walked out, satisfied.Â
I found Asher at the end of the hospitalÂ
corridor.Â
He looked down at me.Â
“Sienna. WhatÂ
you said last night. Did you mean it?”Â
“What did I say?”Â
“You said you wouldn’t regret it.”Â
My heart skipped.Â
“I meant it.”Â
He grabbed my hand and strode toward theÂ
elevator.Â
He drove fast. Didn’t speak the entire way.Â
The car pulled up to the estate.Â
He came around to my side, yanked open theÂ
door, and lifted me into his arms.Â
“Asher, what are you…”Â
“Shh. Quiet.”Â
He carried me upstairs, kicked his bedroomÂ
door open, and laid me down on the bed.Â
Then he started tearing off his tie. Rough.Â
Violent.Â
I lay on the bed and watched.Â
His suit jacket hit the floor.Â
His shirt buttons came undone, one by one.Â
His chest. His abs. The V–line cutting down.Â
All of it, revealed.Â
He lowered himself over me, hands braced onÂ
either side, caging me in.Â
“Sienna. I’ve heldÂ
back for three years.”Â
His voice was wrecked. “Your eighteenthÂ
birthday. You wore that red dress and called me.Â
Asher. I haven’t stopped wanting you since.”Â
I wrapped my arms around his neck.Â
“Then what are you waiting for?”Â
He lowered his head. His lips brushed myÂ
throat.Â
The heat of his breath melted me.Â
Then the doorbell rang downstairs.Â
ignored it. He kept kissing down my neck.Â
doorbell stopped. A phone buzzed.Â
AsherÂ
TheÂ
His. He didn’t answer.Â
Then came pounding on the door. Celeste’sÂ
“Asher! Open the door! I know she’sÂ
shrieking.Â
in there!”Â
“You can’t do this! She’s your ex–wife’s sister!”Â
Asher’s head snapped up, his eyes bloodshot.Â
I reached for his phone. Celeste’s messagesÂ
filled the screen.Â
[I’ve already called theÂ
Sinclair family. They’ll be here in twenty minutes.]Â
[Think carefully, Asher. If you do this, theÂ
whole world finds out]Â
[CEO of Blackwood Industries caught with hisÂ
ex–wife’s sister. Is that the headline you want?]Â
I laughed and tossed the phoneÂ
aside.Â
“Asher. Are you scared?”Â
He stared at me. The fire in his eyes wasÂ
practically blazing.Â
“Scared?”Â
He lowered his head and bit down on my lip.Â
“I’m not scared of anything. The only thing I’m scared of is you regretting this.”Â
Downstairs, Celeste kept pounding.Â
In the distance, the sound of approachingÂ
engines.Â
The Sinclair family plus a swarm of reporters.Â
Almost here.Â
And Asher’s hands unfastened the last buttonÂ
- of my nightgown.
