He Wanted Me Hidden, I Became Untouchable Chapter 11
I couldn’t understand why Julian had died by suicide.
The news left me sitting in stunned silence for a long time. I even started wondering if I had done something
wrong.
It wasn’t until Grant said to me,
“Emmy, this was Julian’s choice.”
“I hate that he stole you away from me, but I have to be honest. If you ever chose to leave me too, I might
make the same choice.”
“I’m not threatening you.”
“I just know I couldn’t bear an ending like that either.”
“So if you don’t want to be my partner, I hope you’ll still be my sister for the rest of our lives and stay by my
side.”
Only then did I finally understand how absolute and devastating some kinds of love could be.
Grant went with me to Julian’s funeral.
Lauren was there too. She stood beside me, her face calm. “I’m actually jealous of you. At least you had his
love once.”
“I had nothing. And because of him, I lost years of my life.”
I didn’t answer. I set down a white flower and turned away.
Grant followed.
He hadn’t asked me for an answer in days.
But I decided it was time to give him one.
So, before I got into the car, I said,
“Grant, we can give this a try.”
If we were destined to stay together, there was no reason to keep making things harder than they had to be.
Later, I asked Grant why he loved me.
He said, “When I begged God to save me, you appeared.”
“From that moment on, I was your devoted believer.”
