He Left Me During My Miscarriage to Support His Ex—1 Year Later, He Returned to My DIVORCE Papers Chapter 07

I headed straight into the office the second dawn broke.

Luna Cole’s father had passed away.

Silas spent every spare moment over those days helping Luna arrange her father’s funeral affairs.

I’d already begun sorting through paperwork to file for a divorce.

I planned to bring the subject up once his funeral duties wrapped up.

A heavy sadness hung thick over Silas’s demeanor.

He certainly carried his own reasons for acting the way he had, yet I knew I could no longer keep moving

forward within this marriage.

He hadn’t been by my side when I’d suffered my miscarriage.

He’d lied about going on a work trip just to travel overseas and care for his ex-girlfriend’s parents.

I never wanted to relive that crushing sense of abandonment again.

Silas left the house before sunrise and returned long after dark each night; we barely crossed paths inside

our own home.

Once his schedule finally cleared up, I took the initiative and asked him to drive me to work.

He’d lost a noticeable amount of weight, and dark purple shadows rested heavy beneath his eyes.

As we neared the office building, I broke the silence.

“Silas Mercer.”

“I want a divorce.”

Every trace of color drained from his features, his jaw locking tight before he slammed on the brakes out of

nowhere.

He twisted his whole body in the driver’s seat to stare straight at me.

“Why?”

“I’m planning to move out in a few days.”

I only needed to pack my clothing, handbags, and a small stack of vital documents, so the moving process would go quickly.

But Silas also started gathering his own luggage to pack.

I had no clue what he thought he was doing.

His facial features stayed perfectly neutral as he spoke casually.

“I’m moving in with you.”

“We’re still legally husband and wife, so there’s nothing wrong with us sharing living space.”

“That apartment counts as marital property, half of it belongs to me.”

My expression turned cold instantly.

“I bought that apartment entirely on my own.”

He curled his lips into a faint smile.

“If there’s any other residential property you’ve had your eye on, you can tell me. I’ll purchase it and put the deed solely under your name.”

“Since we’re married, every asset I own is half yours by right.”

I put my moving plans on hold for the time being.

At the very least, I couldn’t move out right now-I refused to let him set foot inside my private apartment.

Shortly after her father’s passing, doctors diagnosed Luna with moderate clinical depression.

I woke up in the middle of the night after hearing noises coming from the entryway.

Silas didn’t spare me even a single glance before rushing straight out the front door.

That was when I found out Luna had attempted suicide.

Doctors managed to stabilize her condition, and she’d only just been released from the ICU ward, yet her emotional state remained wildly unstable.

Silas and I slipped back into our old routine of occupying the same house yet never speaking or seeing each other.

I restarted my moving preparations, and finished packing and relocating all my belongings within a single day.

I met a group of friends at a bar over the weekend. The blaring loud music drowned out all ringtone alerts on my phone, so I never picked up his calls.

I dialed him back the second I stepped out of the bar.

Silas’s voice came through the line rough and hoarse.

“Why haven’t you come home yet?”

“Where are all your belongings?”
