He Cheated On Me Thinking My Wealth Was His—So I Kicked Him Out of the Billionaire Game Chapter 07

He Cheated On Me Thinking My Wealth Was His—So I Kicked Him Out of the Billionaire Game Chapter 07

The hallway outside the ER was terrifyingly quiet.

No one knew how long passed before the doctor finally came out.

“Mr. Whitmore, the baby is stable for now.”

“But Ms. Whitmore has been through a lot of trauma. She also has minor bruising. She needs bed rest.”

Elliott’s shoulders finally relaxed for just a second.

But then he asked, “And her?”

The doctor hesitated. “She had a severe emotional breakdown.”

“Once she wakes up, try not to stress her out further.”

When they wheeled me out, my face was almost transparent.

There was an IV in my hand. Tears still wet on my cheeks.

Elliott walked quickly to my bedside.

The moment I saw him, the tears just fell.

Not like back at the lakehouse, where I was holding it together.

This was different. It was the kind of breakdown that hits you when the dust settles.

I grabbed his hand. My voice was wrecked.

“Elliott.”

“Was I blind?”

He swallowed hard and crouched by the bed.

“No.”

“None of this is your fault.”

I shook my head. Tears fell heavy and fast.

All the details I’d ignored on purpose came flooding back.

The first time Julian came to the Whitmore house, his eyes lingered on the paintings, the antiques, my

father’s old signet ring.

Back then, I thought he was just nervous.

He came from a normal family. I told myself he was bound to feel out of place.

Later, my best friend Mina pulled me aside.

“Elise, be careful.”

“The way he looks at you… it’s too much.”

“It doesn’t feel like love. It feels like a calculation.”

I laughed at her for overthinking it.

I said, “Julian is good to me.”

“He’d run three blocks in the rain to get me apple cider donuts.”

“He remembered everything I couldn’t eat. When my stomach hurt, he’d stay up all night just to bring me ginger ale and saltines.”

I told myself Julian would never cheat.

I told myself he was different.

But now I see.

Maybe all of that was just a long con from day one.

Julian knew exactly which buttons to push.

He knew I’d been kept in a bubble. That I was an easy target for something that felt clumsy and real.

So he faked sincerity. He faked devotion.

He faked it so well that even I believed him.

Elliott bent down and wiped my tears away.

His hands were so gentle.

But the pain in his eyes looked like someone had cut him open.

“Elise, stop. Just stop.”

“You and the baby are what matters right now.”

I shook my head, still choking on the words.

“I just feel so stupid.”

“I saved Cora.”

“I lifted Julian up.”

“And one of them slept with my husband. The other tried to take my company.”

“Elliott… how did I raise two snakes and not see it until they were biting me?”

Elliott’s eyes went cold.

He held my hand. His voice was low and raw.

“You didn’t raise wrong.”

“They were always rotten.”

I just stared at him.

Elliott stood up and tucked the blanket around me.

“Get some sleep.”

“Leave the rest to me.”

I grabbed his wrist.

“Elliott. Don’t get your hands dirty for them.”

He looked at me and smiled. Very faintly.

“Don’t worry.”

“My hands stay clean.”

“They’re just going to make them choke on every last thing they stole.”

He turned and walked out of the room.

The moment the door closed, all the warmth left his face.

An assistant was waiting at the end of the hall.

“Mr. Whitmore, Julian Chase is still kicking up a fuss. He’s demanding to see Ms. Whitmore.”

Elliott’s eyes were cold as frost. “He’s not worth the air it takes to say her name.”
