He Cheated On Me Thinking My Wealth Was His—So I Kicked Him Out of the Billionaire Game Chapter 04
“Ms. Whitmore, Mr. Chase said you’ve been exhausted lately.”
“He asked me to take you to the lakehouse for a few days.”
The next second, the doors locked. My signal died.
When the car stopped, Julian was already waiting outside.
He’d changed his clothes. His face was dark, but underneath, he was barely holding it together.
“Elise. Let’s talk.”
I looked at him and scoffed. “You call this talking?”
He frowned.
“I just didn’t want you to do something you’d regret. Blow this up so badly there’s no coming back.”
“You’re pregnant. You shouldn’t be in the middle of a company war right now.”
“Restore my access. And sign a shareholder proxy agreement.”
“From now on, let me handle the company.”
I almost laughed in his face.
Julian led me into the living room.
The papers were already on the table.
He pushed a pen toward me.
“Sign these, and we’re still husband and wife.”
“I promise you.”
“No one else after Cora. Just you two.”
I looked up at him. Couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
And Julian acted like he’d just made some huge sacrifice.
“Elise, you grew up in this world.”
“You know how it is. Half those guys out there have seven or eight side pieces.”
“All I want is you and Cora.”
“You’re the wife. The mother of my child. The face of the Chase family.”
“She’s been with me this long. I can’t just turn my back on her.”
“We can still make this work.”
In Julian’s eyes, I was supposed to feel grateful.
Lucky he was letting me stay his wife.
Right then, I felt sick.
I picked up the pen. Julian’s expression finally relaxed a little.
I looked down at the shareholder proxy agreement.
Then I ripped it in half.
Julian’s face went completely dark.
“Elise. Don’t push me.”
I threw the torn paper in his face. “You couldn’t run my company if your life depended on it?”
The last bit of warmth in Julian’s eyes disappeared.
He turned to the security guards. His voice went cold.
“Take Mrs. Chase upstairs.”
“She stays there until she comes to her senses.”
Two guards stepped forward. One on each side. They grabbed my arms.
I shielded my stomach. My voice went cold.
“Julian. Try me.”
He looked at me. Almost gentle.
“Elise. I’m doing this for you and the baby.”
“You’ll understand when you calm down.”
The door slammed behind me.
The lock turned. Windows sealed shut. My phone was gone.
The only light in the room came from one dim lamp.
I braced myself against the wall. My stomach kept tightening.
Cold sweat ran down my back.
From downstairs, Julian’s voice drifted up.
“Don’t let her out tonight.”
“She signs the agreement, she leaves. Not before.”
Cora let out a soft laugh.
It was quiet. But it cut through me like a needle.
“If Elise hears us down here… do you think she’ll lose it even more?”
“Or…”
She dropped her voice lower, but lifted the end of her sentence.
“Wouldn’t that make it even hotter?”
