Gold Digger? She’s the Richest Donna Chapter 09

Gold Digger? She’s the Richest Donna Chapter 09

I hurried over and wrapped my arms around Damian’s neck. “Damian, let it go, okay? We finally got away as a family for a vacation.”

Well, me and our son were on vacation. He was here for work.

“Honey, it’s okay.” Damian squeezed my cheek, but his eyes were still ice-cold. “Someone’s trying to steal my woman. You really think I’m gonna let that slide?”

I stepped back. If I didn’t let him get it out of his system now, he’d spend the next two weeks making me prove over and over that I loved him.

Couldn’t blame him, really. This tough, ruthless guy who ran the entire Montague operation was just completely starved for security when it came to us.

When Vincent saw how close we were, the vein on his temple popped out. He clenched his fist and charged.

He didn’t even get close enough to touch the hem of Damian’s coat before a clean side kick sent him

flying to the ground. He lay there, too hurt to get up for minutes.

“That’s it?” Damian smirked with contempt. “Don’t even think about touching a single finger of my

wife, not in your next life.”

Vincent looked up at me in agony. “Emma…”

Damian just swept me up into his arms and growled against my ear, “Punishment gets doubled tonight.”

We all agreed the hotel creeped us out too much. We booked a flight back to New York right away.

Right after we landed, the police called with an update.

Selina and the waiter were found guilty of defamation, the evidence was rock solid. They got 15 days

in jail.

But Damian frowned the whole trip home. He couldn’t even focus on building blocks with our son.

“Emma.” He set a block down suddenly. “I can’t shake the feeling I’ve seen Selina somewhere

before.”

I rolled my eyes. “She’s a famous lawyer influencer with 100 thousand followers. Of course you’ve

seen her.”

“Not on her livestream.” Damian rested his chin on his hand, thinking hard. “In person. The night I saved you five years ago… I swear I saw her in that alley.”

Damian got obsessed with figuring it out. He quietly had every detail of Selina’s life for the last ten years dug up.

When the report landed on the table, I went cold all over. I couldn’t stop shaking.

It turned out that after I broke up with Vincent, when I got attacked by those thugs in the alley, they didn’t just want to assault me. They wanted to break my hands, so I could never work as a doctor

anymore.

Selina had put them up to it.

I’d always thought it was just a random attack. After the thugs were arrested, I never looked into it

further.

I never could have imagined that Selina, desperate to have Vincent for herself, was cruel enough to want to destroy me completely.

Damian held me tight against his chest, his voice soft and steady. “Emma, it’s over. I’m here, I’ll always be here.”

I finally broke down, sobbing in his arms.

After that dark night, I spent days curled up in my room, wouldn’t eat or drink, my mind completely

gone.

Damian never left my side. He stayed with me through every endless, sleepless night.

Vincent always called me his salvation, but no one ever knew that Damian was the real light in my

life.

“Damian, thank you for never leaving me,” I whispered against his shoulder.

Our story was simple, really.

Back in college, I was a poor kid working three jobs just to get by. He was the richest guy in our class, born with everything.

He said he couldn’t remember when it started, but he’d always feel a tightness in his chest

watching me walk to class alone. Then we ran into each other again in that dark alley, and he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life protecting me.

“Mommy!” My little boy came running over on his chubby legs and wrapped his arms around mine “I want hug too!”

Damian grabbed the little guy by the back of his shirt and lifted him up, deadpan. “Time to give Mommy and Daddy some alone time, buddy.”

Damian originally wanted to use family connections to make Selina disappear for good.

But I insisted on turning all the evidence over to the police. Selina got exactly what the law gave Her.
