From Rejected Omega To The Supreme Luna Chapter 19
Ember POV:Â
One Year LaterÂ
Pain with a purpose.Â
“Push, Ember!”Â
A sharp cry.Â
“It’s a boy.”Â
The doctor lifted him. Covered in soft, white fuzz.Â
“White Wolf,” Gael whispered, tears streaming.Â
“Phoenix,” I said. “He rose from the ashes.”Â
Gael kissed me.Â
I felt a cold draft leave the room. A shadow finallyÂ
evaporating.Â
The past was dead.Â
Julian POV:Â
I had been fading for a year.Â
The screen in the common room changed.Â
Live feed. Hospital.Â
Ember. Gael.Â
A baby.Â
White–haired.Â
My heart stuttered.Â
That should have been my son.Â
If I hadn’t been a coward. If I hadn’t been vain.Â
I looked at Ember’s smile. She didn’t remember me.Â
I was nothing.Â
Grief hit me harder than silver.Â
My wolf let out one last howl. It’s over.Â
Darkness crept in.Â
“I’m sorry,” I mouthed.Â
My heart stopped.Â
Beep…Â
Nobody rushed in.Â
Ember POV:Â
“Did you feel that?” Gael asked.Â
“Feel what?” I stroked Phoenix’s cheek.Â
“A shifting. Like a weight lifting.”Â
I smiled.Â
“Just the wind, my love.”Â
I looked out at the full moon.Â
Scarred girl. Rejected Omega. Supreme Luna. Mother.Â
“Welcome to the world, Phoenix,” I whispered.Â
And for the first time, the world was beautiful.
