From Rejected Omega To The Supreme Luna Chapter 07
Ember POV:Â
The Copeland Manor was a Gothic monstrosity of dark stone and iron spikes.Â
As the limo pulled up, the gates slammed shut like a prison cell.Â
“Welcome home, brother!”Â
Jeanette skipped down the steps.Â
I stiffened. “I thought you sent her to the borderÂ
farms.‘Â
“Mother missed her,” Julian adjusted his cufflinks. “Family comes first, Ember.”Â
Hypocrisy tasted like bile.Â
“Look who dragged herself out of the gutter,” Jeanette sneered. “Still smells like burnt trash.”Â
“Jeanette,” Julian warned weakly. “Show the guests to their rooms.”Â
“Estelle, you’re in the Royal Guest Suite,” Jeanette beamed. “Ember… Daddy said to putÂ
you in the East Wing guest room.”Â
The furthest point from the Alpha.Â
“Fine.”Â
“Before you unpack,” Jeanette added. maliciously. “Father wants to see you. Alone.”Â
Carlo Copeland.Â
I walked to the study. It smelled of cigars and power.Â
“Sit,” Carlo commanded.Â
“Let’s cut the bullshit,” he grunted. He tossed a file. “My son is an idiot. He thinks he owes you. But I know what you are. A blemish. I cannot have a scarred Luna representing this family.”Â
“We agree on something,” I said.Â
Carlo raised an eyebrow.Â
“I don’t want to marry him. But he won’t let me go.“.Â
I leaned forward.Â
“Let’s make a deal. On the wedding day, I disappear. In exchange, you use your ElderÂ
authority to block Julian from tracking me. You annul the marriage. Clean break.”Â
“Why should I help you run?”Â
“Because if you don’t, I will walk down that aisle, and I will be the ugliest Luna in history. Investors will look at me and see weakness.”Â
Carlo smiled cruelly.Â
“You have guts. Done.”Â
He pulled out a silver dagger. “Blood Oath.”Â
We sliced our palms. We shook. Magic sizzled, binding the contract.Â
“Be gone before the vows,” Carlo said.Â
I left, feeling lighter.Â
I went to the greenhouse for herbs. I heard giggling.Â
Jeanette and Estelle.Â
“Did you see her face?” Jeanette laughed. “Julian told me he’s going to make her sleep in the servant’s quarters even after the wedding.”Â
“She’s pathetic,” Estelle sighed. “I almost feel bad. Almost.”Â
They saw me.Â
Jeanette stood up. “What are you doing here? Family only.”Â
“Just passing through.”Â
Jeanette picked up a heavy crystal vase. “Pass through somewhere else.”Â
She threw it.Â
I dodged, but a shard sliced my arm. Blood welled up.Â
“Oops,” Jeanette smirked.Â
I didn’t shift. I just walked up to Jeanette, grabbed a handful of her hair, and slammed her face into the table.Â
Crunch.Â
Jeanette screamed.Â
“You crazy bitch!” Estelle shrieked, lunging with claws.Â
I sidestepped. Estelle tripped in her heels andÂ
fellÂ
onto Jeanette, claws raking down Jeanette’s arm.Â
“Aaaah! Get off me!” Jeanette wailed.Â
The door burst open. Carlo and Julian.Â
“What is this?” Carlo roared.Â
“She went crazy!” Jeanette cried, nose gushing blood.Â
Carlo looked at the scene. He saw me bleeding. He saw the recognition of our deal in my eyes. He needed me alive to leave.Â
“Jeanette,” Carlo barked. “I saw you throw that vase on the security feed.”Â
Jeanette froze. “Daddy?”Â
“Disgraceful! Fighting like alley cats? Guards! Lock Jeanette in her room until the ceremony is over.”Â
“But Estelle helped!” Jeanette whined, betraying her friend instantly.Â
“Take them both out,” Julian rubbed his temples He looked at me. “Ember, go bandage yourself. Try not to bleed on the carpet.”Â
I walked out.Â
They were eating each other alive. And I was just watching the show.
