From Fat Girl to Fated Mate Chapter 08
I jerked away as if I’d been burned.Â
Ethan strode into the room, radiating AlphaÂ
dominance.Â
Jessica forced a smile. “Ethan, this is girl stuff.Â
Stay out of it.”Â
“Girl stuff? Bullying a student in broad daylightÂ
damages this entire school’s reputation. That isÂ
my business.”Â
She dropped the act and played the victim. “ButÂ
Ethan… you never used to care about this kind ofÂ
thing.”Â
Yeah. Since when did he care?Â
Ignoring her, he glanced at me. “You’re Josie,Â
right?”Â
I nodded.Â
“Last name?”Â
“Vance.”Â
Ethan smiled.Â
My wolf sensed something wrong. I stepped backÂ
instinctively.Â
He looked past me and turned to face Jessica.Â
“Starting today, Josie’s business is my business.”Â
Jessica screamed, “Have you lost your mind?”Â
Honestly, I was thinking the same thing.Â
He called the administration office; withinÂ
minutes, school officials arrived. Ethan laid out theÂ
entire situation, and their faces turned grim.Â
The squad members were escorted away.Â
Suspension was a done deal, no question about it.Â
I didn’t want to stick around. I thanked Ethan andÂ
turned to leave.Â
He blocked my way.Â
“So,” he said, something almost hungry in his eyes,Â
“that ballet competition three years ago, that littleÂ
dancer. That was you, wasn’t it?”Â
I hesitated. “I…”Â
He inhaled sharply. “It was you. I’ve been looking for you for three years.”Â
It was too much.Â
I stepped back. “I don’t know what you’re talkingÂ
about.”Â
“I haven’t been able to stop thinking about that dayÂ
since I saw you dance.” He moved closer, backingÂ
me into a corner.Â
“There’s something I’ve been wanting to say toÂ
you. And I need to say it now.”Â
My hands clenched into fists.Â
“Yeah?” I gave a bitter smile. “What is it? AnotherÂ
warning to stay away from you? Or more advice toÂ
lose weight so men won’t avoid me?”Â
Ethan froze.Â
I elbowed his arm. “Move. Please.”Â
He flinched, then grabbed my wrist.Â
“I didn’t mean it like that. I just… I didn’t recognizeÂ
you. I had no idea that was you.”Â
“But that’s exactly what you meant. If you hadn’tÂ
recognized me today, if I wasn’t that dancer fromÂ
three years ago, I’d still just be a disgusting,Â
greasy stalker to you.”Â
“And you weren’t wrong, were you? That’s still whatÂ
you think.”Â
Ethan went pale.Â
“I’m sorry, Josie. I didn’t mean it. I swear. I finallyÂ
found you again. My wolf chose you. Please don’t hate me. I’ll make it up to you. I’ll do anything.”Â
I sighed. “Ethan, you don’t have to beg.”Â
“You don’t understand.” His grip on my handÂ
tightened. “Josie… I never forgot about you.”Â
It was too intense. My cheeks burned. WordsÂ
caught in my throat.Â
Then an icy voice came from the doorway.Â
“Looks like I came at a bad time.”
