Four Alphas Took My Moon Crown To My Adopted Sister Chapter 05
I held Cedric’s icy stare and spoke calmly.Â
“Alpha Cedric, what does this have to do with you?”Â
“Does it have to do with me?” He let out a bitter laugh and reached out to grip my chin. “Everyone in the Wastelands knows you belong to me. You will not pick some random werewolf to be your mate. That will not happen.”Â
His dominant Alpha presence washed over me, clouding my senses. “Do not test my limits. Call off the ceremony at once, and I’ll pretend none of this ever happened.”Â
“What if I refuse?” I did not back down an inch.Â
His fingers tightened sharply around my jaw. “Stella, do not act recklessly. If you want to keep Blackwood Pack’s support, you will do as I say.”Â
“Then we’re done. We were never true mates toÂ
begin with. I could care less about BlackwoodÂ
Pack’s support.”Â
A heavy silence fell over everything.Â
Cedric stared at me as if I had lost my mind.Â
He knew me well. He was the one who taught meÂ
how to negotiate and navigate pack politics.Â
He had always believed I could never hold onto myÂ
position in Silvermoon Pack without him.Â
“Stella, I taught you those tactics so you could useÂ
them against our enemies, not against me. HowÂ
are you any different from those schemingÂ
werewolves Teresa keeps company with now?”Â
A bitter chuckle bubbled up in my chest.Â
The difference is this. I once truly believed youÂ
were my only safe haven.Â
I stepped back and pulled free from his grasp.Â
“You no longer need to concern yourself with myÂ
affairs, Alpha Cedric.”Â
“Stella,” he called after me, his voice sharp withÂ
threat. “If you walk out that door now, do not comeÂ
crawling to me later. I will never forgive you.”Â
I did not look back.Â
I climbed into the vehicle, and my phone lit up inÂ
the darkness.Â
It was a text from my father, its tone frigid.Â
“Your mate has been chosen. Be present for theÂ
mating ceremony in three days.”Â
He was pushing me into a corner.Â
I turned off the screen and glanced toward theÂ
Silvermoon Pack house outside the window.Â
Workers were busy preparing for the event through the night.Â
And the man who would stand beside me was sleeping on the far side of the Wastelands right.Â
now.Â
Soon, every pack member would know exactly who my future mate was.Â
The pain in my left shoulder had long since gone numb. I raised my right hand and dialed a number I hadn’t called in months.Â
The line connected quickly, and a deep, steady voice came through. It was Bowen Sable.Â
He was Cedric’s only rival across the Wastelands,Â
and the current Alpha of Crescent Pack.Â
Half a year ago, he had subtly proposed a political alliance through marriage. I had been completelyÂ
devoted to Cedric back then, and turned him downÂ
without hesitation.Â
“Alpha Bowen, is your offer from half a year ago.Â
still standing?”Â
There was a three–second pause on the other endÂ
of the line.Â
“Miss Stella. It sounds like you’ve run into trouble.”Â
“I need a mate. The ceremony will take place inÂ
three days.” I watched the scenery blur pastÂ
outside the window and laid out an offer he couldÂ
not refuse.Â
“In return, I will convince my grandfather to grantÂ
you the Eternal Night Woods in the northernÂ
Wastelands as my dowry.”Â
“Are you certain you can persuade him?” Bowen’sÂ
tone gave nothing away.Â
“Once I take a mate, he is bound by Thorne familyÂ
law to hand that land over to me. It is inheritanceÂ
meant for the daughters of this line.”Â
“Deal.” Bowen agreed without a moment’sÂ
hesitation.Â
I ended the call and felt a wave of exhaustion.Â
wash over me.Â
When I returned to the pack house, I found CedricÂ
sitting in the main living room.Â
He had changed his clothes, and his face lookedÂ
worn and grim.Â
Teresa was nowhere to be seen, nor were theÂ
other three Alphas.Â
He walked up to me, his posture almost likeÂ
someone admitting fault. “Stella, I reviewed theÂ
security footage from last night. I wronged you.”
