Eloped Ex Wanted Me Back? I Became His Mafia Godmother! Chapter 02

“Enough!”

The truth was barely out of my mouth before Sienna cut me off.

She wrapped herself around Dante’s arm, whining in that sickeningly sweet voice of hers. “Dante, I’m fully recovered now! If you want an heir, I can give you one!”

Dante pinched her nose with pure, unadulterated fondness, letting out a low chuckle. “You just beat a major illness, sweetheart. How could I ever put you through that? Your only job is to be my pampered little princess.”

But when he faced me? His gaze flipped into a blade of icy contempt.

“Five years, Mara. Sienna was abroad fighting for her life. And you? You were so consumed by petty jealousy that you couldn’t even manage a single word of concern?”

“You’re pathological. Sienna is the one with the pure heart here—the second we landed, she begged me to come find you. You don’t deserve her charity!”

Listening to his delusional lecture, I resisted the urge to roll my eyes into the back of my head.

For the last five years, my inbox had been flooded with Sienna’s travel photos and scandalous, intimate videos.

Healthy glowing skin, peak fitness—did that look like a dying patient to anyone?

“Mommy, who are these people?”

My little Lily stepped forward, trying to shield me with her tiny hands.

Dante’s expression softened instantly.

He reached out to grab her. “I’m your daddy, sweetheart. Come home with me. Don’t stay with this crazy woman.”

*Slap!*

Lily violently smacked his hand away.

“Get away from me! You’re not my daddy! You’re a bully, and you’re hurting my mommy! I hate you!”

Humiliated in public, Dante’s face darkened instantly. His eyes turned lethal as he glared at me. “Is this how you raise a child? You didn’t even teach her who her father is? The Romano family has no room for an ill-mannered little bastard like this!”

No mother tolerates her child being insulted.

My sanity snapped.

Fists clenched, I let every single word drop like lead: “Let me say this one last time. This child has *nothing* to do with you!”

Dante blinked, taken aback, before bursting into an arrogant, mocking laugh. “God, Mara, I loathe this pathetic act of yours. It’s disgusting!”

“Look at you! What are you even playing at anymore? If you’re too damn proud to beg for my forgiveness, then take your little bastard and get the hell out of my sight!”

With a flick of his wrist, he pulled a wad of cash from his pocket and slapped it hard against my face.

“Look at the trashy rags you two are wearing. Take the charity, buy some decent clothes, and stop embarrassing me!”

And with that, he threw his arm around a smug Sienna and strutted away.

I stared down at my dust-covered utility vest, my eyes dead.

What a shortsighted, arrogant clown.

Did he honestly think I was broke?

He had no idea that the seemingly basic top beneath my vest was an exclusive piece by Krena—a legendary haute couture designer—valued at $150,000.

And Lily’s cartoon jacket? A priceless, custom-made luxury piece that money couldn’t even buy.

Suddenly, my phone buzzed with a private ringtone.

Swallowing my rage, I answered.

A deep, raspy voice melted through the speaker. “Mia delizia, inspecting the docks must be exhausting. I have a private lounge right there. Go rest with our girl, don’t overwork yourself.”

“I miss you terribly. The second this afternoon meeting wraps up, I’m coming straight to pick you up.”

The supreme mafia king who, just moments ago, was likely deciding who lives and dies in a boardroom, was now whining like a needy golden retriever on the phone.

A warmth bloomed in my chest.

The man on the other end was Adrian Valenti.

The undisputed underworld emperor of New York, the supreme Don of the Valenti family—and my legal husband.

Five years ago, when I was at my absolute lowest, I ran into him.

One wild night of passion changed everything.

After that, he used the bloodiest, most ruthless methods to protect me, throwing a historic, high-profile wedding that shook the entire American underworld.

Four years ago, I gave birth to Lily. Without a second thought, Adrian handed me half of the Valenti empire and a seat on the midnight throne.

Today, I am the supreme Donna of the Valenti family.

An entity so powerful that even Adrian’s elite council of elders bows their heads in submission.

And Dante Romano? To me, he’s just an ant waiting to be crushed under my heel.

Hanging up, I took a deep breath and led Lily toward the private lounge.

But the moment we reached the door—

A breathless, suggestive gasp echoed from inside.

“Don’t… Dante… ah! The door isn’t locked… someone could walk in at any second…”
