Eight Years As His Secret Lover, I Married The Top Mafia Don Next Saturday Chapter 10
“The whole thing was a carefully planned trap.” Alice’s voice turned cold. “Bella was a spy sent by a rival
family. They knew you were the Colombo family’s princess.”
“They wanted to drive a wedge between you and Slytherin, then destroy the Moretti family to seize power for
themselves.”
“The Moretti clan collapsed too quickly for them to gain anything in the end.”
I listened to her words, feeling a strange mix of emotions.
Slytherin had always been sharp and cunning, yet he’d fallen for the tricks of a single spy.
Bella’s schemes were never particularly clever. Slytherin’s own greed had been his downfall.
He’d wanted my talent and connections to strengthen his family, yet refused to give me the title and respect I
deserved.
He’d enjoyed Bella’s flattery and attention, but refused to take responsibility for his actions.
He’d reached for everything, and ended up with nothing at all.
A month later, Alice invited me out for dinner.
I arrived at the restaurant and saw Slytherin sitting across from her at the table.
He’d lost a great deal of weight. His expensive suit hung loosely on his frame, and the sharp, commanding
aura of a family Don was completely gone.
He looked up when I walked in, his eyes darting away in shame before he stared down at his lap.
Alice looked back and forth between us and sighed heavily. “Sabrina, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have brought
him here.”
“It’s fine.” I pulled out a chair and sat down. “What do you want to talk about?”
He stayed silent for a long time before finally speaking. “Sabrina, I have a favor to ask you.”
“Can you convince the Gambino family to give the Moretti family one more chance at that partnership?” His voice was low and defeated. “I know I have no right to ask this, but…”
“Slytherin.” I interrupted him firmly. “The Moretti family is gone for good.”
“I know, but if the Gambino family backs us, I could rebuild everything…”
“Why would you ever think I would help you?”
He froze completely.
“I spent eight years doing everything I could to help you.” My voice stayed calm and unwavering. “What did I
get in return?”
“You are far too greedy, Slytherin.”
His face turned ashen white. His lips trembled, and he could not form a single word.
“I will never help you again, just as I will never forgive you.” I stood up from the table and walked toward the
exit.
Alice hurried after me.
“Sabrina!”
She grabbed my arm, her eyes glistening. “I’m truly sorry for putting you through this.”
I shook my head. “Don’t worry about it. He’s still your brother after all.”
I left the restaurant and drove to pick Lucius up from work.
The receptionists at the Gambino family headquarters greeted me with warm smiles. “Donna, Don is waiting for you upstairs in his office.”
I smiled and nodded, then took the elevator to the top floor.
I pushed open the office door. Lucius stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows talking on the phone. He ended the call instantly when he saw me and broke into a soft smile.
We walked hand in hand out of the building as the setting sun stretched our shadows long across the
pavement.
Lucius suddenly stopped walking and turned to face me.
“Sabrina, thank you for agreeing to marry me.”
I smiled back at him. “I should be the one thanking you for waiting for me all those years.”
He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead. “I will cherish you and love you every single day for the rest of our lives.”
Three months later, I heard that Slytherin had moved to another city and taken a senior advisor position with a small local family.
Alice told me over the phone that Slytherin had come to see her before leaving. He’d said one thing to her
“The biggest mistake I ever made was not failing to protect the Moretti legacy. It was letting Sabrina slip
away.”
At that moment, I sat in the lush garden of the Gambino family estate, sipping coffee beneath bright
sunshine surrounded by blooming flowers.
I lifted my coffee cup. “My life is wonderful now. I have no desire to revisit the past.”
Alice laughed on the other end of the line. “Understood. We won’t speak of it again.”
I ended the call. Lucius walked out from the main mansion, carrying a soft wool blanket. He draped it gently
over my legs.
“The wind is picking up. Don’t catch a chill.”
I looked up at him. Sunlight bathed his face, and his warm smile filled my heart with peace and happiness.
