Eight Months Pregnant, He Signed For My Death Chapter 09
On the giant screen, the footage played in brutal clarity.
Lexi’s clothes were disheveled, her body pinned beneath a
man.
And that man…
was not him.
Caleb’s pupils shrank violently. His entire body went rigid.
He recognized the guy. One of Lexi’s classmates.
Lexi’s face drained of all color. She didn’t even have time to
scream for someone to shut it off.
The audio was already blasting through the hall.
The man in the video chuckled. “What if you get pregnant?”
Lexi let out a dismissive laugh. “Good. That’s exactly what I want. Once I’m pregnant, I can use the baby to push Vivian out.”
Her tone turned sharp with frustration. “I’ve tried for years and couldn’t get pregnant. I couldn’t use a child to force Caleb to divorce her. Now this works out perfectly. I’ll just borrow someone else’s seed.”
The guy grinned, smug. “Damn. Guess I’m pretty impressive then. Having the richest man in the city raise my kid.”
A wave of shocked murmurs swept through the audience.
Caleb’s expression turned uglier by the second.
Lexi completely panicked. She grabbed his arm, her voice trembling. “No! It’s fake! It’s all fake! It’s AI! Someone set me
up!”
A few of the powerful men in the front row burst out laughing.
“Mr. Vance, what a coincidence. We’ve got another little gift for you. A paternity test for the child Miss Cassidy is carrying.”
“Oh, and by the way… we brought the father along too.”
They raised a hand.
In the next second, white sheets of paper scattered through the air like snow, covering the entire venue.
A man was dragged inside, his face pale as death.
He pointed at Lexi, shaking. “She seduced me! This has
nothing to do with me!”
Caleb bent down and picked up one of the reports. His fingers
trembled.
He stared at the words on the page as his face turned white
inch by inch. “Impossible… this is fake… it has to be fake…”
He suddenly looked up, his voice nearly hysterical. “If I’m really infertile, then how could Vivian be pregnant? She loved
- me. She would never betray me!”
Someone in the crowd sneered. “Mr. Vance, we thought you
might ask that. So we brought you an answer.”
The crowd parted as a doctor was escorted forward.
The man sighed, pulling a yellowed report from his folder.
“This is your premarital medical report from ten years ago.
Mr. Vance, you do indeed have nonviable sperm.”
He paused, his expression complicated. “As for why Ms.
Rhodes was able to conceive… her physiology is extremely
rare. She’s one of the very few women capable of activating
your sperm.”
“In other words, she is the only woman in the world who can
have your child.”
He hesitated, then added, “If I remember correctly, Ms.
Rhodes was already eight months pregnant. At the very least,
you still had one biological child. You should have cherished
her… and that child.”
The words landed like a thunderclap.
Caleb froze.
The next second, he staggered backward and collapsed onto
the floor. His lips turned pale, his voice shaking
uncontrollably. “My child… my child…”
He clawed at his hair, letting out a broken roar. “What have I
done… what have I done… I killed my own child… with my own
hands…”
The entire hall fell into dead silence.
Just then, footsteps echoed from the entrance.
Uniformed officers walked in.
“Lexi Cassidy. You are under suspicion for filing a false police
report and fabricating injuries. You need to come with us.”
Lexi’s face changed instantly. She lunged toward Caleb, sobbing. “Caleb! Save me! I don’t want to go! I don’t want to go to jail! You said you’d protect me!”
