Died For Their Vows, Back For My Revenge Chapter 06
My parents‘ eyes nearly popped out of their skulls. It was like they couldn’t fathom why she’d waltz in here asking for death.Â
My mother forced an angry look and smacked the back of Tessa’s head. “This is all because of you! Tessa, you’re completely out of control!”Â
She grabbed Tessa’s arm and started dragging her toward the door. “Nolan, she’ll only get in the way of Lydia’s recovery. Let me take her home first. Once Lydia’s feeling better, I’ll bring herÂ
back.”Â
Nolan shot to his feet. He crossed the room inÂ
three long strides.Â
He seized Tessa and hauled her right up toÂ
my bedside.Â
He fisted her hair and yanked her head towardÂ
- me. “Use your goddamn eyes. Look at what youÂ
did to your sister! You faked a kidnapping. WhatÂ
the hell is wrong with you?”Â
Nolan’s roar slapped across Tessa’s faceÂ
harder than any hand could.Â
Tears burst down her cheeks instantly. “I did itÂ
for you! She lied about being pregnant! I just wanted her to pay for what she did to you.”Â
She sucked in a ragged breath. “And it’s not like you were actually gonna kill her! She stole my parents. She stole the life I was supposed to have.Â
Am I not allowed to be furious about that?”Â
Nolan’s face was terrifying. He had neverÂ
looked at someone with this much disgust.Â
“You’re the real thief. Every bit of this wasÂ
Lydia’s. You’re the one who dug your claws intoÂ
this family and refused to let go. You’re greedy.Â
You’ve got no shame.”Â
“You take everything and then act like the world’s done you wrong. I’ve told you a thousandÂ
times, you were only ever a sister to me. Why theÂ
hell can’t you get that through your skull?”Â
“So tell me.” He shook her by the hair until sheÂ
shrieked. “What is wrong with you? Why do youÂ
have to tear Lydia down?”Â
out!”Â
“Let go of me! It hurts! You’re ripping my hairÂ
My parents couldn’t take it. The second sheÂ
screamed in pain, they lunged forward.Â
“Nolan Barrett! Let her go! What gives you theÂ
right to hit my daughter!”Â
Nolan spun around and planted his fist rightÂ
in my father’s face.Â
“You old bastard. You just kept pouringÂ
poison in my ear, over and over. That’s the only goddamn reason I believed Lydia could’ve done this. You cost me my kid!”Â
He drove his fists into my father’s face again and again. My father couldn’t fight back. He just curled up and screamed.Â
My mother rushed over to stop it. A backhandÂ
sent her crashing into the wall.Â
Tessa was completely unhinged now. SheÂ
stomped her feet and shrieked. “Stop it! Nolan,Â
stop! How dare you hit my parents for that bitch!”Â
That’s when I opened my eyes. Right in theÂ
middle of the chaos.Â
face.Â
Tessa noticed instantly. Hate flooded herÂ
In the span of a single heartbeat, she grabbedÂ
a steak knife from the side table and drove itÂ
toward me.Â
“Tessa!”Â
The blade sank into Nolan’s forearm.Â
He had thrown himself in front of me. HeÂ
slapped Tessa to the floor with his good arm.Â
My mother’s scream tore through the room. “Nolan, have you lost your mind!”Â
“Who lost their mind? Tessa just tried toÂ
commit murder!”Â
Nolan didn’t hesitate. He called the copsÂ
himself.Â
Medical staff rushed in to stitch and bandageÂ
his arm.Â
Through all of it, I just watched. Like aÂ
bystander watching a circus.Â
As they dragged Tessa out, she keptÂ
screaming at me. “You happy now, you bitch? YouÂ
satisfied? You ruined the whole family!”Â
“Mom and Dad will never forgive you for this.Â
Why do you have to ruin my life!”Â
Finally, Quiet.Â
My father was wheeled off by doctors too.Â
The hospital room was just me and myÂ
mother.Â
She looked exhausted. She walked toward meÂ
slowly.Â
Part of me thought her first words would beÂ
to ask how I was.Â
But of course I was wrong.
