Burning the Patents of Betrayal Chapter 08
I stared at Chuck coldly, then shook him off with a sharp motion.
“Do whatever you want. That sister of mine-I’ve already abandoned her.”
The smug look on Chuck’s face froze instantly.
I didn’t spare him another glance. Without hesitation, I turned and walked off the stage.
Behind me, Chuck shouted something in a fury. Julie seemed to try to rush after me as well, but both of them were stopped.
Over the next few months, everything unfolded according to plan.
The new product, with its groundbreaking technology, quickly captured the market. Orders poured in. We all but monopolized the entire sector.
The anticipated massive profits arrived right on schedule. James and I both made a fortune.
I took that opportunity-along with James’s continued investment-to revive Ford Corporation, my great family empire that the Blacks had once completely destroyed.
Ford Corporation now struggled yet stubbornly sprouted new shoots in this city once more.
Watching the company come back to life, many of my father’s former subordinates quietly wiped away tears.
Life seemed to be returning to its proper course.
Until the day I went to attend an important business summit.
In the car, my secretary suddenly sent me a livestream link, her expression strange.
On the screen was my sister’s face-both familiar and unfamiliar.
Her face was covered in bruises as she screamed hoarsely into the camera:
“My brother, Adam-now that he’s successful, he’s abandoned me! He won’t even save his own sister!
“I was kidnapped and assaulted because of him. I begged him through tears to save me, but he ignored me! Now he won’t even give me a single cent…
“What’s the point of living anymore? I might as well die!”
The livestream chat scrolled wildly, filled with sympathy for her and condemnation of a “heartless, ungrateful brother.”
My secretary said, “Mr. Ford, she’s outside our headquarters. The crowd is getting bigger.”
The car drove straight to the Ford Corporation building.
The moment we stopped, my sister scrambled toward me, grabbing hold of me.
“Adam, you’re finally here! How could you treat me like this? I’m your sister! Fine, so you wouldn’t save me-but now you won’t even give me living expenses? Are you trying to drive me to death?!”
Almost at the same time, another car sped over and screeched to a halt. Julie and Chuck hurried out.
Julie looked at me with anguish.
“Adam, look at what you’ve driven your sister to. Are you only happy when everyone is miserable?”
Chuck chimed in indignantly from the side,
“Adam, Sabrina is your sister-blood is thicker than water! How can you be so heartless?”
The surrounding crowd began pointing and whispering, their gazes filled with contempt.
I watched them perform in silence.
Then I raised a hand. My secretary understood immediately and handed me a document.
I flung it in their faces.
The words “Sibling Severance Agreement” stood out starkly.
“I don’t have a sister who helps outsiders humiliate her own brother. You should go find the one you really treat as a brother instead.”
I looked at her with a trace of mockery.
“You say you were kidnapped and assaulted, but it didn’t look like you resisted much. Yet when it comes to accusing your innocent brother, you seem full of energy.”
Sabrina panicked completely, her eyes darting wildly.
Julie immediately sensed something was wrong. She turned sharply to Sabrina, her gaze cutting.
“What is going on?”
Startled by Julie’s piercing stare, Sabrina’s mental defenses collapsed instantly. She burst into tears, her words tumbling out incoherently, “It was Chuck! He gave me money and told me to cooperate with him to take those photos, to frame Adam.”
