After the SSS Beast Slave Bites the Hand That Saved Him, I Choose to Watch Him Bleed Chapter 06

Gideon went completely still. 

“Listen to me, Gideon. There’s no fake medicine.” 

“This brew was always for Theron. From the very beginning.” 

“If your wound hurts, maybe you should talk to the person treating you. Not me.” 

I sat down on the edge of the bed and tucked Theron’s blanket around him. 

“If that’s all, stop bothering us so we can get some 

rest.” 

After that day, Gideon didn’t talk to me anymore. He waited for me to come apologize. 

I didn’t even look at him. I spent every minute focused on Theron. 

Once Theron could eat on his own, I made him 

chicken noodle soup. 

The broth was milky white with little golden dots of fat. Just smelling it made my mouth water. 

When I passed the folding screen, Gideon was holding the food Audrey had made for him. 

It was blackish–green and watery enough to see the bottom of the bowl. It had this raw, grassy 

smell. 

Audrey had never learned to cook. 

When our parents were alive, they did the cooking. 

After they died, I did. 

She’d never even held a spatula. 

And now she was half–assing it for Gideon. 

Grab some random greens, throw them in a pot of 

water, don’t even bother with salt. 

Gideon held his bowl, but his eyes followed the 

one in my hands. 

He swallowed. His Adam’s apple bobbed. 

Theron caught the smell. His ears shot straight 

1. up. 

“Slow down. It’s hot.” 

I handed him the bowl. 

Theron didn’t take it. He looked at me, then at the 

bowl. “You drink first.” 

He was dying for it. His eyes were practically falling into the bowl. But he held back his hunger 

because he was afraid I might be hungry too. 

I laughed. 

“There’s more in the pot. You eat first.” 

Only then did Theron take it. 

He held the bowl with both hands and took a sip. 

Then his whole tail started wagging. 

Thump. Thump. Thump. 

His tail hit the bedding over and over, making 

these dull, heavy sounds. 

He drank fast, like he hadn’t had a real meal in 

lifetimes. He even licked the rim. 

The rich smell of soup filled the whole room. 

Gideon sat on the other side of the screen, holding 

his bowl of green slop, staring at me without 

moving. 

When I got up and came back with two more bowls, Gideon finally caved. 

He let out a little huff, like he’d known it all along. 

“Only you would come up with something this dumb–using food to get my attention.” 

“I’m not forgiving you unless you say sorry.” 

He said it with his chin lifted high. 

Like he had me all figured out. 

Like everything I was doing was just a trick to 

make him say sorry. 

I ignored him and brought both bowls to Theron. 

Theron started drinking in big gulps. 

Gideon’s eyes went wide. 

When I brought Theron his third bowl of soup, 

Gideon called out to me. 

“Scarlett.” 

He used the same soft tone he used with Audrey. “I know I was a little out of line the other day.” 

“I don’t need you to apologize anymore, okay?” 

“You don’t have to keep pacing back and forth trying to get my attention. That must be exhausting for you.” 

He patted his blanket, gesturing for me to come 

over. 

“Come rest for a minute.” 

When I didn’t answer, Gideon’s eyebrows pinched together, like he couldn’t believe I was pushing it 

this far. 

He glanced at the soup in my hand and said, reluctantly, “Fine. You can touch my tail again. 

Happy?” 

I glanced at the bowl of slop Gideon had 

abandoned. 

In the past life, I’d spoiled him rotten. 

In this one, he’d been choking down Audrey’s 

garbage just to keep her happy. For days. 

Now he couldn’t stomach another bite. 

I didn’t answer. I handed the bowl to Theron. 

When he saw the soup level going down, Gideon’s 

fur stood on end. 

“What are you doing! That’s my soup!”
