After the SSS Beast Slave Bites the Hand That Saved Him, I Choose to Watch Him Bleed Chapter 01

The lowest-level bonded servant I’d gone out of my way to save fell in love with my sister.

He enjoyed everything I did for him while I healed him all the way up to an SSS-level bonded servant, but he blamed me for getting in the way of his romance and wagged his tail at her all day.

After my sister got married, he found out that Audrey had been right behind me the day I saved him.

If he’d held on just a little longer, Audrey would’ve been the one to rescue him.

He decided everything was my fault. He ignored my begging and opened me up with his sharp claws.

“Why did you save me? I didn’t want you to save me at all!”

When I opened my eyes again, I was staring into a pair of angry, hostile eyes.

I’d gone back to the day he was badly injured.

When he saw me, Gideon Thorne looked at me like I was his enemy.

He lay by the creek, his eyes locked on something behind me. He didn’t notice the change in my expression at all.

I knew exactly who he was looking at. My sister. Audrey Pines.

I took one step forward.

Gideon—who’d been scanning the area and letting out tiny whines to get Audrey’s attention—immediately turned his head.

He arched his back, growled low in his throat, his whole body rejecting my approach.

Then it hit me.

I wasn’t the only one who’d come back. Gideon had, too.

Gideon was the lowest-grade bonded servant, abandoned by some rich family.

In the past life, I was the one who found him dying by the creek and carried him all the way back to the clinic on my back.

To fix his leg, I climbed over a mountain every day to gather herbs, not caring about the danger.

I gave him whatever he wanted.

Anything he asked for, as long as I could manage it, I made sure he got.

But he didn’t give a damn about the injuries I got for him or everything I poured into him. His mind was only on Audrey.

Every day his tail spun like a wind-up toy. He asked how she was, kept her warm, acted like he wanted to rip his own heart out and hand it to her.

The day he came for me, I was crying and begging, “Gideon! I saved you! You can’t do this to me!”

His eyes were full of disgust. “You’re not the only one who saved me.”

“If Audrey hadn’t been there, I never would’ve made it that long.”

“How can you be so selfish and take all the credit?”

“If there’s a next life, I’d rather you hadn’t saved me at all.”

When I didn’t move, Gideon started to catch on.

He tested the waters. “You too?”

Then he let out a sneer.

Maybe he thought about all those days I’d taken care of him in the past life, because his voice wasn’t as sharp anymore. Even his eyes softened a little.

“Scarlett, I’m grateful to you. But gratitude isn’t love.”

“If you really can’t get over me, fine. When Audrey’s not around, I’ll talk to you a little more.”

His tone had that reluctant, grudging vibe, like he was doing me a favor by giving in.

“When that happens, you can have me do whatever you want. But you can never tell Audrey.”

“And you can’t get in the way of me and Audrey ever again.”

“Audrey’s so pure. How could she ever accept something as disgusting as you and me together?”

All I wanted to do was laugh.

“Fine.”

Gideon’s eyes actually lit up with something like relief.

“Scarlett, you finally get it.”

“Don’t worry. Even when I’m with Audrey, I’ll never ignore you.”

“Once she’s out cold, I’ll sneak into your room later.”

I turned around and walked toward the other side of the creek.

You want to be with me and Audrey? Fine. Have it your way.

I hope you don’t regret it when you see who she really is.
