After Prison, I Became an Underground King Chapter 05

The teacup slipped from her hand and shattered across the floor.

Zoey could not even bother wiping away the scalding tea that had splashed onto her skin. Her voice trembled with

urgency.

“Missing? How is that possible?

“Who bought it? That property belongs to the Goldman family. Besides the Goldmans, who else could’ve purchased it? Find out immediately!”

One piece of bad news after another left an inexplicable unease growing in her chest.

“Zoey, what’s wrong?”

Ronald stepped closer and gently massaged her shoulders.

“My brother disappearing? Impossible. He’s always been good at manipulation. This is probably just another stunt to get your attention.

“And as for the old mansion, besides you and my brother, who else would even be qualified to buy it?”

Only then did Zoey gradually calm down.

That was true. Only someone connected to the Goldman family trust had the authority to sell the old mansion.

This had to be one of my schemes.

She let out a long breath, her chest rising and falling unevenly.

But no matter how she tried to rationalize it, the image of me kneeling in front of the old mansion with hopeless, deadened eyes refused to leave her mind.

Unable to sit still any longer, she strode out the door and sped toward the underground boxing arena.

“Where’s Henry? Tell him to get out here immediately.”

The manager looked confused.

“He was already fired. After your last order, he hasn’t been back to the arena for a long time.”

In an instant, blood rushed to Zoey’s head and her vision darkened.

Her phone played the disconnected tone for what felt like the hundredth time. She gripped it so tightly her knuckles turned white.

“Where does he usually stay? Take me there!”

The room was tiny and suffocating, barely ten square feet. A rotten smell of mold hit her the moment she entered.

On the battered wooden bed were only a few faded clothes washed so many times they had nearly lost their color.

This could hardly even be called a room.

Grinding her teeth, Zoey demanded, “You let a boxing champion live in a dump like this?

“How did he end up like this?”

The manager answered cautiously.

“Ms. Sanders… honestly, Henry really had it rough.

“Every time he fought, he fought like he didn’t care whether he lived or died, all for a little prize money.

“I don’t think he’s the kind of person who would bully Mr. Ronald…”

For once, Zoey fell silent.

Her eyes reddened as she lifted the pillow, revealing an old, yellowed photograph beneath it.

It was a picture of me and her together.

The surface had long been worn dull from being handled so often. It was obvious how much the owner treasured it.

The photograph had been clenched so tightly that the edges were crumpled.

Zoey lowered her voice and ordered her assistant, “Even if you have to turn Solaria upside down, you will find him and bring him back.”

She drove toward the old mansion.

The entire journey passed in silence, yet the unease in her heart only grew stronger.

No… he wouldn’t leave me behind.

I’m the only person he has in this world.

He must be hiding somewhere right now, watching all of this unfold.

Before the car had even fully stopped, she rushed into the estate.

“Henry, come out already. I know you’re here watching the show.

“If you come out now, I can let everything that happened before go.”

Her voice echoed through the empty estate.

Other than dust drifting through the air, there was no response.

She searched through every room, her hands trembling uncontrollably.

“Don’t test my patience. Get out here right now!

“I don’t have time to play games with you. This is your final warning.

“…Where did you go?

“You’re not allowed to leave me behind.”

The last sentence came out filled with unwillingness, her chest aching with a sour, unbearable pain.

At that moment, her assistant hurried inside.

“Ms. Sanders, we found out who bought the old mansion!”

“The buyer was Tina Draven from the Draven family in the capital.”
