After My Third Divorce From Godfather, I Will Never Come Back Chapter 03

Author: Rorschach
I thought Andre and I would never see each other again before I left the country.
But on the very night I officially submitted my application to leave the Family, he actually called me and invited me to dinner.

When I refused, the man’s voice immediately revealed his dissatisfaction.

“Why won’t you come?”

I casually brushed him off.

“I’ve gained some weight recently. I don’t want to go.”

The moment the words left my mouth, I regretted them slightly.

It sounded as if I still cared about what he thought of me.

Sure enough, Andre let out a low chuckle, teasing me.

“Do you really think there’s anything about you I haven’t seen? You should know that I’ve always loved you, your appearance would never change that.”

His overly intimate tone made me extremely uncomfortable, so I spoke coldly.

“Is there something else?”

The man immediately noticed the distance in my voice. For once, there was a hint of panic in his tone.

“I heard from them that you submitted an application to leave the Family?”

I hummed in response, not intending to explain.

Andre fell silent for a moment. When he spoke again, his voice surprisingly carried a hint of pleading.

“Why do you want to leave?”

“You are, after all, the only godmother of the Family.”

I impatiently interrupted him.

“Shouldn’t you be staying with Alice?”

Andre couldn’t help but lower his voice.

“My relationship with her is already in the past. What’s there to accompany her for?”

But after saying that, he fell silent.

Because he suddenly remembered that I was nothing more than his ex-wife now.

A trace of guilt flashed across Andre’s face.

“The divorce… I was the one who wronged you.”

“I was just afraid that if we didn’t divorce, people would secretly gossip about Alice…”

I nodded.

Alice shouldn’t have been the subject of gossip.

So I deserved to become the joke , the topic everyone in the Family discussed during their free time.

My voice grew colder.

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up.”

“Wait!”

Andre’s voice suddenly became urgent.

“The eighth is our wedding anniversary. There’s an auction of famous paintings that day. I know you love painting, and I know I’ve neglected you these past few days. Let’s go to the exhibition together that day. I’ll buy you an original Picasso as an apology. How about that?”

For a brief moment, I hesitated.

I wanted to tell him the truth.

But before I could say anything, Alice’s voice came through the phone first.

“Andre, my chest hurts so much.”

Andre didn’t respond immediately.

All I could hear was his breathing suddenly becoming heavier.

Silence was the clearest answer.

“Go ahead.”

I gave a self-mocking laugh.

He cleared his throat, as if trying to explain.

“Rachel, Alice’s situation is complicated. I’ll be back soon.”

Just as I expected, I heard Alice’s soft moan.

Then came the sound of Andre and Alice kissing.

Coincidentally, Sophia called out to me, asking me to go to the bar and relax.

I hung up the phone without hesitation.

There were so many things in this world that could make me happy.

I would never let you hurt me again, Andre.
