After My Husband Cheated, I Fell for My Younger Trainer Chapter 10
The video of Lily sobbing outside the building quickly spread through the residents’ group chat.
The title was brutally blunt.
Married Man Cheats. Pregnant Mistress Shows Up at His Door.
When Ethan rushed back, I was sitting in the living room reading the messages.
The moment he walked in, he demanded, “Where is she?”
I poured him a glass of water.
“Security escorted her away.”
He stared at the glass in my hand, furious and humiliated.
“You just sat here and did nothing?”
I nodded.
“What was I supposed to do? Go downstairs and help her up?”
He slammed the glass onto the coffee table.
“She said she’s pregnant.”
“So?”
“So you shouldn’t…”
He stopped halfway through the sentence.
Perhaps even he realized how ridiculous he sounded.
I finished it for him.
“I shouldn’t be this calm?”
He stared at me, his eyes red.
I smiled.
“Ethan, she’s carrying your child. Why are you angry with me?”
He could not answer.
His phone rang, and Lily’s name appeared on the screen.
Ethan glanced at me before answering.
Lily was sobbing so hard her words broke apart.
“Ethan, I didn’t mean for this to happen. I was just scared. You’ve been ignoring me lately, and I honestly
didn’t know what else to do.”
Holding back his anger, Ethan said, “Go to the hospital.”
There was a pause on the other end.
“What?”
“I said go to the hospital and get checked. Now.”
Her sobs faltered.
“You don’t believe me?”
Ethan’s voice turned frighteningly cold.
“Lily, don’t make me repeat myself.”
I stayed on the couch and watched him rush out.
Four hours later, he returned.
His tie hung loose, his hair was disheveled, and he looked utterly exhausted.
I did not need to ask. The answer was written all over his face.
“The pregnancy was fake?” I asked.
He did not respond.
I smiled.
“What a shame.”
His head jerked up.
“Erin, do you have to keep saying things just to hurt me?”
“I genuinely think it’s a shame.”
I set my phone on the coffee table, displaying the divorce settlement meeting my attorney had scheduled. The unsigned agreement lay beside it.
“If she had really been pregnant, the divorce would have been much easier.”
Ethan stared at the screenshot, and the color drained from his face.
“You already scheduled it?”
“Tomorrow at two. My attorney’s office.”
He picked up the phone, his fingers trembling.
“I’m not going.”
“Then I’ll file and take you to court.”
He snatched the agreement off the coffee table and ripped it to pieces.
Pieces of paper scattered across the floor.
“I said I’m not divorcing you!”
Silence swallowed the room. The only sound was his ragged breathing.
I took out my phone and called my attorney.
“He’s refusing to settle. Go ahead and file.”
Ethan grabbed my wrist.
“Erin!”
I looked at him.
“Add this to the evidence of domestic violence too.”
His hand immediately loosened.
“When have I ever been violent with you?”
I raised my wrist.
A ring of angry red marks was already forming where his fingers had dug into me.
“Right now.”
He released me completely and took a step back.
I continued speaking into the phone.
“Yes. I’ll send you the records of the injuries from the last time he grabbed me, along with the records of everything he smashed.”
Ethan collapsed onto the couch.
He stared at the scraps of paper scattered across the floor and let out a broken laugh.
“Erin, are you really not giving me even one chance?”
I ended the call.
He looked up at me, tears filling his eyes.
“I ended things with Lily. She lied to me, and I’ll never see her again. I’ll come home on time. I’ll do anything
you want.”
His voice grew quieter with every word.
“Give me one more chance, okay? Erin…”
“It’s too late.”
I stood.
“A year ago, I wandered through the rain, crying until I could barely walk. No one came looking for me.”
He went rigid.
I picked up my bag and headed for the door.
“But things are different now.”
In a hoarse voice, he asked, “What’s different?”
I opened the door, and the hallway lights came on.
I looked back at him once.
“Now, someone is waiting for me.”
