Ethan really was busy. But not with multi-million-dollar deals.
He was busy threatening the man he thought was sleeping with his wife.
He met Zachary at a coffee shop.
They sat across from each other, both staring, neither speaking first.
Ethan looked Zachary over.
He was shorter, not as handsome. With a messy head of dirty blond hair.
He was better in every way. But Emily was divorcing him for this guy.
She’d even sold her luxury items to fund his business.
What made him so special?
Ethan’s anger burned beneath the surface. But he didn’t show it. He looked completely calm.
He slid a blank check across the table.
His voice was level. “Name your price. How much will it take for you to leave Emily?”
Zachary’s lips curled in a lazy smile.
He let out a low whistle. “Big spender. So that Bugatti the other day, that was you? You were
following us.”
He sounded sure.
Ethan smirked, his eyes cold. “Mr. Thompson, your business is just getting started. I’d hate to see it
go under before it takes off.”
Zachary froze for two seconds. Then he burst out laughing. “You threatening me?”
“You’ve already looked into me, haven’t you? So you know Emily and I grew up together. You know my family has money too.”
He leaned back, totally unbothered.
He even crossed his legs. “Fine. Go ahead and try to ruin my business. I’ll just show her who you really are. When she’s done with you, I’ll take her abroad. You’ll never see her again.”
Ethan lunged across the table and grabbed Zachary’s collar.
His eyes burned with rage. “You wouldn’t dare!”
Zachary stopped smiling. “Maybe stop threatening me and think about what you’ve done to make
her this unhappy.”
Ethan froze. He let go.
Zachary watched him leave.
Then smiled to himself. “You’re welcome, Em.”
