After I Learned I Was Going to Be His Ex-Wife Chapter 04
Ethan came back very late.
I was half asleep when something pressed against my waist. Hot breath fell on my neck.
“Emily…”
I instinctively opened my mouth. Wrapped my legs around him.
His lips were warm. Just as I was losing myself, I snapped awake. And pushed him away on reflex.
Ethan stopped.
In the dark, his eyes seemed to glint faintly. They were filled with something deep and unreadable
I scrambled for an excuse. “Sorry, you scared me. Um, it’s really late. Let’s just sleep.”
Ethan took a few deep breaths and calmed down.
He patted my head. “Sleep. I’ll take a shower.”
He went to the other bathroom. He didn’t come back all night.
The next day, Ethan didn’t go to work.
He sat on the couch looking over documents, wearing the loungewear I’d bought.
A loose white tee underneath, with a black cardigan over it.
He looked relaxed and effortlessly elegant.
Normally I would’ve thrown myself into his arms and gushed, “Since when did I get so lucky with a
husband this handsome?”
But now, the comments told me. He didn’t like these clothes. He only wore them for my sake, and reluctantly, at that.
So I just glanced at him and looked away.
Ethan called out to me. “Emily, where did you put the costumes?”
I stopped. “Oh, I threw them out. I got bored with them anyway.”
“Bored with them?”
The air went still for a moment.
Ethan stood and went into the bedroom, his voice uncharacteristically cold. “Fine. Whatever.”
[Finally! The male lead doesn’t have to play these stupid games with the ex-wife anymore!]
[But why does he seem upset? His face is totally dark.]
[You’re seeing things. He clearly looks relieved.]
[Right. Once he falls for the female lead, he won’t sleep with the ex-wife anyway.]
