After I Learned I Was Going to Be His Ex-Wife Chapter 02
I stared at that line and my heart went cold.
It was true. I did use saving his mom to marry him.
His mother collapsed on the street. I gave her first aid and got her to the hospital in time, saving her
life.
Ethan found me and asked what I wanted.
I stared at his insanely handsome face. And on a whim, I said, “I want to marry you.”
Ethan froze for a moment.
He looked me over. And surprisingly, he agreed.
Later I found out. His mother had been pressuring him to settle down and liked me.
So he went along with it.
I always knew it was a marriage of convenience.
He didn’t have feelings for me. And he promised I could leave anytime.
It wasn’t like I married into wealth for no reason.
Well… maybe partly.
But mostly I wanted that stunning face and that incredible body.
I’d been a sucker for good looks since I was a kid.
But then he insisted on separate bedrooms.
He came home late and left early, never crossing paths with me.
I paced around my room in my sheer nightgown, almost ready to spike his drink.
Until I stumbled on a local post late at night:
[My wife takes great care of my mother, but she doesn’t want jewelry or designer bags. How can I thank her?]
It showed it was posted less than 0.1 miles away.
My eyes went wide. That meant it was posted from inside our house.
Clearly, Ethan wrote it.
[One good deed deserves another. Pay her back all at once so you owe nothing in the future.]
Ethan replied with a question mark.
I scrolled through the increasingly outrageous suggestions all night, my face growing hotter by the
minute.
The next day I was totally wound up.
Ethan came home early for once and was reading on the couch.
I poured myself some chamomile tea, and poured him a cup as well.
He took it silently, then suddenly smiled. “Do I look like I need calming down?”
I froze, about to explain.
Ethan’s gaze traveled down, slowly tracing over my lavender silk nightgown.
His throat moved as he swallowed.
His voice was rough. “Maybe I do.”
The moment he carried me to bed and lay me down, I thought dizzily, Thank you, internet
geniuses, for finally making this happen.
