A Boy in the Video Called My Late Fiance Dad, Standing Before My Bestie’s Wedding Photo Chapter 05
I stared at my phone as it vibrated nonstop in myÂ
hand.Â
A few feet away, two officers were forcing Julian’sÂ
arms behind his back and snapping handcuffsÂ
around his wrists. Vivian had collapsed onto theÂ
lawn. Her designer wedding gown was smearedÂ
with dirt and grass stains as she sobbedÂ
hysterically, insisting she knew nothing.Â
In front of everyone, I answered the call.Â
The screen flickered.Â
The little boy from seven years in the futureÂ
appeared again, grinning from ear to ear as heÂ
held up a phone.Â
“Hi, ma’am! Daddy brought the present home!”Â
His excited voice rang out as the camera spunÂ
around.Â
Then I saw him.Â
Julian.Â
Not the Julian standing in handcuffs twenty feetÂ
away.Â
The Julian from seven years later.Â
He looked older, more polished, dressed in anÂ
expensive tailored suit. In his hand was a custom velvet jewelry box.Â
The smile on his face was one I knew all too well.Â
Tender.Â
Devoted.Â
The same smile he used to reserve for me.Â
Lowering his gaze toward someone off–camera,Â
he said warmly, “Vivian, I got the necklace back.Â
Try it on and see if you like it…”Â
Then his eyes drifted toward the phone screen.Â
The smile vanished instantly.Â
I said nothing.Â
Instead, I slowly switched to the rear camera.Â
The live image showed the reality unfolding inÂ
front of me.Â
Present–day Julian was pinned between twoÂ
police officers.Â
The metallic clink of his handcuffs echoed sharplyÂ
through the air.Â
His face was ghostly pale.Â
His hair was disheveled.Â
His eyes were filled with pure terror.Â
Then he saw the screen I was holding.Â
For a brief, impossible moment, two versions of Julian stared directly at each other.Â
Separated by seven years.Â
Connected by the same phone screen.Â
A scream erupted from the other end.Â
Vivian.Â
Future Vivian.Â
She must have rushed over after seeing theÂ
screen.Â
“Oh my God… what is happening?! Julian! That’sÂ
you! That’s our wedding day seven years ago!”Â
Her voice trembled violently.Â
The camera shook so hard it was obvious she wasÂ
panicking.Â
I switched back to the front–facing camera andÂ
looked coldly at the two horrified faces on theÂ
screen.Â
“Julian. Vivian.”Â
My voice was so steady it surprised even me.Â
“I’m Hazel.”Â
Both of them visibly sucked in a breath.Â
Future Julian stared at me as though he’d seen aÂ
ghost.Â
“That’s impossible,” he whispered.Â
Then he shouted.Â
“You died! You jumped off that building sevenÂ
years ago! Who is this? What kind of sick joke isÂ
this?!”
