The Wrong Baby Chapter 13
Marcus took the report casually.
The next second, his pupils shrank.
He crushed the paternity test in his fist.
Damien’s face turned pale, and he kept backing away.
“Marcus, listen to me. Seraphine and I only did it once…”
Marcus snarled under his breath and swung his fist at him.
“You bastard. You’re my own brother, and you slept with my mate?”
Good, I thought.
Hit him harder.
Raven was already ten years old. Who knew how many years those two had been sleeping together?
Damien’s face quickly swelled from the beating, and one of his legs was injured too. Even if he wanted to run, he couldn’t.
The living room had turned into a battlefield.
The Luna stood there holding a kitchen knife, crying and stamping her feet.
“What is this? What kind of sin is this? How can two brothers fight over one woman?”
Raven tried to stop them and hugged Marcus’s leg.
“Daddy, stop hitting Uncle Damien! I still want to live in their house!”
The moment Marcus heard that, he became even angrier.
He kicked Raven away.
“You little bastard. You’re the reason my son is dead!”
I had seen enough.
I called the enforcers and had them all thrown out.
The Luna and Raven were kicked out along with them.
After that, I immediately listed the house for sale to avoid any future trouble.
At the same time, I hired a lawyer to handle my bond dissolution.
In two years at most, I would be completely free of that disgusting pack.
But some people were like gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe.
Disgusting, sticky, and impossible to shake off.
After I moved back to my birth pack’s territory, Damien came to see me again after he was discharged from the healing den.
His face was still wrapped in gauze, and one of his legs was in a cast.
The moment he saw me, he actually started crying.
“Selene. I… I know I was wrong. I finally understand now. You’re the only one who truly loved me.”
My hand paused on the door.
Honestly, I did want to know what had happened to him.
It turned out that after Marcus was taken into custody by the enforcers, the Luna had been pressuring Damien
write a letter of forgiveness for him.
She didn’t care about his injuries at all.
In her eyes, there was only Marcus.
Even though Marcus was nothing but a useless thug.
Damien had spent his whole life fighting Marcus for their mother’s favor.
He stole Marcus’s woman.
He stole Marcus’s pup.
But in the end, he still couldn’t steal their mother’s love from him.
And I finally understood something too.
No wonder the Luna had treated my son so differently from Seraphine’s son, even though both were her grandsons.
I asked Damien one question.
“If Raven had really thrown our son out that window, what would you have done?
“Would you have made her pay for it?”
Damien opened his mouth.
Not a single word came out.
I already knew the answer.
He still would have sided with Raven and her family.
I took out the bond dissolution agreement I had prepared long ago.
“If you have even the slightest conscience left, sign this now. Don’t make me fight you in court.”
Damien gave a bitter smile.
He held the pen in his hand and stayed silent for a long time.
In the end, he still signed his name.
“I’m sorry, Selene. I failed you and our son.”
“Can I still come see him in the future?”
The only answer he got was the door slamming shut in his face.
Night came especially early in winter.
From inside the house, faint sounds of happy laughter drifted out.
But none of it had anything to do with him anymore.
Not long after I successfully got the bond dissolution certificate, something happened to the Blackwood pack.
I heard that after Damien spent a few days in Council custody, his company fired him..
And because the Blackwood pack had become infamous in town, no one was willing to hire him.
Wherever they went, people pointed and whispered.
Raven, who had once been raised like a little princess, was no longer cared for by anyone.
The pack committee told her to go back to school.
But when she got there, no one would speak to her.
Someone had even written “murderer” on her desk.
Raven ran home crying, desperate for someone to comfort her.
But Damien pushed her away coldly.
He even said viciously that if it weren’t for her, the pack never would have ended up like this.
Marcus called her a shameless bastard.
Even her grandmother cursed her with resentment.
“If you want to blame someone, blame your mother. If she hadn’t egged you on, would this pack have turned out like this?
“And you’re brainless too. Someone tells you to kill, and you kill. If someone told you to start a fire, would you do that too? Idiot!”
Raven thought about it all night.
Then the idea of revenge took root in her mind.
She crept into the kitchen and turned on every gas burner.
Then she shut every door and window.
Finally, she flicked a lighter in the living room.
Just as Margaret had said, Raven really did start a fire.
Only, she had not expected the gas to explode the moment she sparked the lighter.
So when she pressed down on it, everyone in the house was blown away along with her.
Not a single member of that pack survived.
