The Wrong Baby Chapter 08
Raven hid behind Margaret, trembling with fear. She didn’t dare say a word until the enforcers carefully retrieved Marcus Jr. from the cellar.
His tiny body was covered in filth. After falling from so high up, his head had been badly injured.
The enforcer pulled the blanket aside, revealing a small, lifeless face.
Seraphine let out a strangled scream, then her eyes rolled back and she fainted.
Raven dropped to her knees in front of Marcus Jr. and burst into tears.
“How could it be my brother? I don’t believe it! I clearly threw that little bastard!”
My heart sank.
I shook my head in disbelief.
“Raven Blackwood, what did I ever do to you? How could you be cruel enough to want my son dead?”
I had done everything I could for this niece.
When I first mated Damien, he told me that Seraphine was like a second mother to him.
That meant Raven was like his own little sister.
So I had treated her like my own little sister too.
I bought her clothes.
I bought her school supplies.
I bought her toys.
I never imagined such a sweet, obedient pup could turn into a murderous little monster.
Raven cried with her mouth wide open, pointing at me with hatred in her eyes.
“It’s all your fault! My mom said you’re the one who took Uncle Damien away from us!
“If you and that little bastard hadn’t taken Uncle Damien from us and stopped him from giving us money, we would still be one pack! This is all your fault!”
I bent down and stared at her.
“But now you killed your own brother with your own hands. Do you think your pack can still live well after this?”
Raven froze on the spot.
Damien was busy holding the unconscious Seraphine and calling for the pack healer.
Marcus was still drunk.
The Luna held Marcus Jr.’s body and wailed at the top of her lungs.
As she cried, she slapped her own thighs and kept shouting about what a sin this was.
There were already many people around because of the Gathering.
Her cries drew all the neighbors over.
Raven’s friends, meanwhile, were quietly taken away by their parents.
I let out a cold laugh.
Good.
The more people, the better.
I wanted everyone to see what this pack really was.
I strode over to Seraphine and slapped her awake.
